Reviews for Hotel Splendide Royal Lugano

A lovely treat of a stay!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

We had such a lovely stay! The location is gorgeous, and easily walkable to many attractions in Lugano (although a bit farther from the main station). Everything about the stay was lovely, the rooms are comfortable and very clean and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast was delicious with many hot options, continental buffet and great coffee and we had a lovely dinner in the restaurant as well. We really enjoyed the spa relaxation room, sauna, and amazing view from the pool to relax in the winter!

Hotel Splendide not splendid this time around

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We booked a two-night stay at Hotel Splendide, which promotes itself as a "luxury" hotel. We have stayed at the hotel before, and our experience previously was wonderful. Hence, we decided to return. When we arrived in our room, we went to open the curtain and found that the view from the room was almost completely obstructed by a large object outside of the window – a wall of some sort. As a result, the room was dark and, frankly, depressing. One of us went to the reception and indicated the room was unacceptable for this reason and that we would like to change to another room in this same category. The response was that there were no other rooms in this category and that we would have to pay for a better room if we wanted to see out the window. Rather than opting to stay in this dark room, we opted to pay an additional 150 CHF per night for a room with a view. Keep in mind, this was in addition to the 250 CHF rate we were already paying per night for the original room. We do not believe a luxury hotel should offer any rooms with a completely obstructed view. This is an unacceptable option for any room on offer in such a hotel. We could not help notice that a manager had overheard our discussion with the reception, and seemed to make every effort to avoid intervening. Another rather troubling issue for any hotel, much less a luxury one.

Expectations exeeded

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

This hotel far exceeded my expectations. The staff is really amazing at this hotel, particularly Ilaria. They answered all my questions via email before I arrived. The room which was recently renovated was beautiful, serene, comfortable and quiet. It had motion activated night lights to get to the bathroom. Maid and turndown service was excellent. The breakfast buffet is very good. From the online pictures it is hard to tell but the hotel is immaculate and beautifully maintained. The location is very convenient to the town center and across from the promenade.

The best Hotel in Lugano

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

From the moment we arrived, we felt truly welcomed. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive — always smiling and ready to help with anything we needed. The hotel is simply beautiful, full of charm and elegance, with a stunning view of Lake Lugano that you never get tired of looking at. Our room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. Breakfast was one of the highlights — delicious food, great coffee, and that amazing lake view made every morning special. Everything about our stay was perfect. You can really feel the passion and attention to detail in every corner of the hotel. We can’t wait to come back!

Lovely hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Everything was perfect, the staff was kind, a hotel with a special charm, a lovely and quiet room, only one thing was a little disappointing, the hotel promises a free transfer from the train station, but they actually sent us a taxi that cost 40 Swiss francs for a 5-minute ride, extremely excessive!!!
