A contemporary haven nestled in a historical landmark in the center of the capital of gastronomy, InterContinental® Lyon – Hotel Dieu is one of the city’s most emblematic historical landmark buildings, originally dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries and offering contemporary and understated luxury design. Views from the hotel are always stunning, be it on the Rhône river or on our listed historic courtyards. Located on the 1st floor, the hotel’s breath-taking Soufflot Dome, towering 32 metres high, has been one of the greatest private renovations of a classified site in France since 2013. The majestic Dome is the vibrant heart of the hotel, boasting a magnificent bar. Le Dôme bar is one of the highlights of the city for hotel guests and locals alike.

From check in to check out everything we needed from a hotel on our arrival to France! Very professional check in, they handle everything, whisk your luggage away while you’re seated with a drink and check in. Make dinner reservations, offer Lyon suggestions, make change to smaller € without hesitation & then off to room where valet is ready with luggage (no waiting for it after 24hrs of flights) and he went over room tips. Security is the best of any hotel we’ve stayed in to get to your room. Key on elevator to get to floor, key to open room wing, again to open room section & then your door. Might bother some but I liked it. Location is perfect for exploring. It’s almost a mini-city in itself with surrounding restaurants & shops. Room was very chic & comfortable. Very high ceilings made room seem huge. Great bed, pillows, and quiet. Plenty of towels, good housekeeping when needed. Last morning room service delivered at scheduled time & HOT! 👏🏻 Only con was restaurant, not a great dinner or breakfast experience. We walked before check out to pick up rental car & returned with it, went up to room got luggage, they put it in car gave us waters & driving suggestions & viola we were off in a few minutes checked out. Would return in a heartbeat!

We stayed at the Intercontinental for a few days. I can honestly say it was THE FINEST hotel we have stayed at during our 6week drive through Europe. We have stayed at all 5-star hotels on this trip and a LOT of them so this is a significant statement. The kindness and helpfulness of the staff, especially the concierge is off the charts. Just amazing!! we can’t thank them enough. Also the room was incredible and the location perfect. Honestly I can’t even imagine not staying there again if/when we return to Lyon. Simply amazing in every respect.

Can I give it more stars?! From the min. we pulled up in the pouring rain greeted with umbrellas to when we left our stay was fantastic! Beautiful hotel in a great location part of the Hotel Dieu historic building landmark. Our hotel room overlooked the Rhone, tall windows, Byredo amenities, walk-in rain shower, gorgeously appointed and quiet. Everyone on staff was welcoming and helpful and you can't beat the location to shopping ,restaurants and sights. Also wonderful boutiques within the Hotel Dieu showcasing local artists , beautiful courtyards to wander. I would stay here again and again! Merci!

Good location overlooking the river, very friendly and courteous staff, room with high ceiling, remote operated drapes and average space was quite inviting. Breakfast and dinner were of high quality; lamb shoulder for dinner was very delicious and big in portion. Many other restaurants in the old town within a short walk are alternates for dinner. Confluence of the two rivers flowing through the town and the confluence museum are accessible via a city bus or taxi. The majestic church on top of the hill is accessible via a funicular within walking distance of the hotel. Charming hotel in a great city.

We had previously stayed at the Intercontinental Lyon shortly after it first opened and had a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, our recent stay was quite the opposite. Despite being a relatively new hotel, it already feels significantly run down, especially in common areas like the main restaurant, where the furniture is dented, and the overall appearance is grubby. This is far below the standard one would expect from a hotel of this caliber. A major issue we encountered was poor ventilation in the rooms, particularly the bathrooms. In the rooms in general, but in particular after using the shower, there was a strong, unpleasant odor, likely due to poor ventilation and humidity not being properly managed. This problem wasn’t isolated to our room; we had to switch rooms late at night because the smell became unbearable, even reaching the upper floor of our duplex suite. The staff was courteous and showed us several other rooms, but we noticed that most had the same issue. We eventually settled for the room with the least odor. To add to the frustration, after our stay, I discovered that they had charged my credit card twice. Although I contacted the hotel and they assured me it was just a temporary hold, both charges eventually went through, and I am still waiting for the refund of the overcharge. Overall, while the hotel’s architecture is stunning, poor maintenance and management have diminished what could be a great experience. Regrettably, I cannot recommend staying here in its current state.
