Savoy Saccharum Resort & Spa is a beautiful property located in Calheta overlooking the sea and near the Marina da Calheta. The hotel is located just 20 minutes from Funchal, the Island city capital, and 45 minutes from the International airport. The Savoy Saccharum is designed with natural landscaping that offers a symbiosis between the ocean and the mountain. Proudly a design resort, the Savoy Saccharum had the signatures of modern and innovative HR architecture studio and recognized and awarded Madeiran interior designer Nini Andrade Silva, who opted for a contemporary décor, using the sugar cane (saccharum) as the conceptual element.

Chefes that don’t help their teammates
If you want a great service ( ironically) reserve to stay in this hotel and go to the 8th floor. There’s a bar/restaurant called fly where the chefe is so good that he’s on the phone instead of helping the team. To make it better he says they’re so busy and stays on his phone. His name is chefe Pereira. This is absolutely disgusting behavior. Besides that, all good.

Birthday vibes
Just back from a long birthday weekend staying at Saccharum. Really enjoyed the stay at this hotel in Calheta (40 minutes drive from Funchal) Excellent and professional service throughout from checking in to breakfast and dinner. Room with a view of the Atlantic and setting sun each evening, A nice bottle of brut was left in the room for my birthday. Great touch!! We made use of the outdoor infinity pool as weather was nice and warm each day. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Go book it, you won’t regret it.

Good but not great
Good points: cleanliness, staff, design, typical buffet, gym, sea front cafe, in-house restaurants, nearby restaurants. Bad points: pools v small, upselling to access areas makes you feel 2nd class, dark inside, glass walls in rooms, local facilities

Will come soon for the 4th time
We've visited Saccharum for 3 times starting from October 2022 and November 2024 will be our 4th visit and we'll be celebrating my birthday there. Always stayed in Side Ocean Suite room which is awesome. Breakfasts are super good and delicious, the overall experience is great. The only thing is the infinity pool - it's very very cold!
