We enjoy staying at older, grand, stately hotels and Hotel Felix Gran Melia did not disappoint. The lobby lounge area is impressive. The rooms are dated but in an old elegant way. Excellent massages at their Thai spa. Amazing bar with professional bartenders sort of putting on a show while mixing your drinks, we went a few nights in a row and I would stay there again just for the bar experience! Great location, nice area to walk around with a wide variety of shops including affordable (multiple Zara flagship stores) to higher end. Salamanca is a gorgeous area of the city. We didn’t include breakfast when booking because we were going as a family of 6 adults and some of us sleep in and miss breakfast or prefer to walk around for a small bite and coffee. However, one day three of us just wanted to stay at the hotel for breakfast. It was a buffet I would describe as mediocre. We were shocked at the price of 40 euros per person for what they were serving. Also we were seated out of the main dining room and it was hard to get attention of waiters for drink orders (coffee…tea, etc).

I have been staying at the Fénix Hotel for years. Upon arrival, Mr. Israel and Mr. Carlos are there to help us with our luggage, and Mr. Luis Alejandro is in charge of security. The rooms are impeccable. The restaurant service is very good. I also recommend the Japanese restaurant, Zuma, which is located right next to the hotel. The best part is that the hotel’s location is perfect, right next to La Castellana and Serrano.

The hotel has an amazing location, close to the best shops and restaurants in Madrid. Plus the staff is very friendly and attentive to your every need. The breakfast is very good. The bed very comfortable and cozy. It’s not a huge hotel, and you don’t feel crowded. The atmosphere at the lobby is always inviting… for drinks or tapas with friends, family or alone. Also great for families.

Excellent hotel but all rooms should remove carpet from rooms specially the one with the views of Castellana and Plaza Colon. Also additional charge for a breakfast included with room rate for an omelette should not be charged Excellent location, staff, room size, amenities, a real gem have been there several times
