Helpful front of house but were unable to confirm that I had paid in advance. No upgrade offered despite IHG Platinum status. Room was ok but a little small. Housekeeping was good. Restaurant service for breakfast and lunch was definitely mediocre compared to my previous stay at this hotel - perhaps some refresher training on table waiting and handling of food as this didn't match the level of the hotel. Didn't feel the cost was worth it.

Intercontinental Hotels in the U.S. have become hit or miss in terms of cleanliness, style, and amenities, so I was slightly disappointed to learn that the conference I was attending would be at the IC. But that changed the moment I arrived. This is one of my favorite hotels in the world. Very unique room, so comfortable that I slept without interruption after my 7am arrival to late afternoon. Great location. Breakfast buffet is amazing. Staff is friendly to Americans.

This is a five star luxury hotel with a World Class staff. I am an Ambassador Member and have stayed at hundreds of IHG/Intercontinental properties over the many years I have traveled. This property is one of the top 20% of the Intercontinental Hotels I have stayed at. I bought a club lounge access King Room. With my Ambassador membership I was given a double room upgrade (this based on availability I was lucky). Check in experience at the Club Lounge with Laura was world class. Laura was awesome with all the questions I asked. First night I also checked in with Alfredo at the Conierge desk who spent a full hour with me planning my three days in Madrid and booking all of my reservations. Alfredo was world class with every detail and engaging me with innovative ideas to spend my time. I was delighted to provide him a generous tip for his work. He made our trip a very special one that we will not forget. Club Lounge is World Class. Room was clean, neat and well serviced. Top notch, world class 5 Star Hotel. This is why Intercontinental is my favorite brand.

Everything was perfect from check in to check out without exception starting with the check in which went smoothly; the Concierge services were top notch obtaining for me a flight change from Vienna to Barcelona; giving me a great barbershop recommendation just up the road from my hotel; excellent, polite & professional housekeeping services & as soon as you walk into the wonderful lobby you know that you are in a good location with a huge shopping store just under 10 minutes away. The only problem I did have was not with the hotel @ all but instead @ the Madrid Airport where I waited for literally hours just to get to passport control as nobody spoke any English whatever in the wheel chair area making me miss my limo for which I was charged as a no show as well as a previously arranged dinner engagement so I tipped the nice young woman who took me to the taxi stand 50 Euros as she was the only one @ the airport who provided me with ANY assistance whatever. If it were up to me whomever is in charge of the wheel chair services should be taken out & shot. So bottom line is I had both excellent & terrible experiences in Madrid.

Stayed here in November 2023 around US Thanksgiving break. Stayed 3 nights and all I can say to describe our stay is "fine." Everything was fine, nothing really stood out. The rooms and decor did feel dated. I really enjoyed the Byredo bath products, and the shower had decent pressure. We did have lounge access that we used for breakfast. The attendant in there 2/3 mornings we went in for breakfast wasn't the nicest. I saw another guest that was headed out reach in to one of the fridges that had bottled water, take one and walk out. I thought water bottles were fair game, so as I went to grab one, I was admonished by the attendant and told I could not take it out of the lounge. He was not very nice about it (I speak fluent Spanish so there was no language issue) and made me feel like I was a child getting in trouble. I explained that I saw another guest take a bottle and he was just rude about it. It left me with a sour feeling. There could have been a better way of addressing me without making me feel like I was being punished. Other than that, it was an ok stay, nothing to write home about. I will say, whatever scent they use throughout the hotel smelled really good.
