A Truly Perfect Bucolic Hideaway

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Ca's Xorc Adults Only Luxury Retreat outside of Soller on Mallorca describes itself as a hidden gem, and after staying there for the most perfect three days, we could not agree more. Two years ago, a friend drove us up the Tramuntana Mountains to Ca's Xorc for a drink. They graciously insisted on opening a superior bottle of Cava for us even though we only wanted 3 glasses, and I have always wanted to return. Ca's Xorc is beautifully landscaped with nooks to find privacy scattered throughout the property. The view of the mountains and distant sea from our private terrace was so spectacular we went out several times in the middle of the night to look at the stars. The cuisine from Barretes Restaurant on the property was above what we hoped. I could write a page alone describing entree selections such as the fresh wide noodles with lobster and burrata not to be surpassed by truly unique desserts such as a hot and cold chocolate concoction with white chocolate "crackers" adorning the top. But beyond this, and an essential requirement for us, was the staff. Not just competent and helpful, but with a genuine warmth wanting to do everything possible to ensure we enjoy our visit. There are not words to say how much Carina at reception enhanced our stay. David, the Restaurant Manger accommodated every request. Our standards are high and we could not recommend this hotel retreat more highly. As an aside, we took the Mallorca-Menorca 1 hr 15 minutes fast ferry to Ciutadella on the neighboring island of Menorca for a few days, which is easy and a more than rewarding side trip.

Angies 50th

We were blown away from the minute we arrived, the staff are very attentive and helpful. Breakfast is perfect, lots of good quality choices in beautiful surroundings, The infinity pool (a tad cold) had breathtaking views. If you fancy a warmer dip there is a nice secluded jacuzzi. We knew beforehand the accommodation isn’t the easiest to access by car. There were 6 of us, so we needed 2 cabs. We ate at the restaurant on our 1st night. Amazing food, excellent service must give a mention to David. I would highly recommend a short break here, we stayed for 3 nights. During our stay we visited Fornulux, Deia, Sóller from Sóller we got the tram to the port (9 euros) Just note the accommodation is not suitable for the less mobile. All in all it exceeded our expectations and we would return in a heartbeat.

An overpriced rustic finca? Yes! - A luxury retreat? NOT AT ALL!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed August 29, 2023

I think it is important to make a few things clear. The hotel is an old rustic finca in Mallorca - NOT a "Luxury Retreat". I mean NOT AT ALL! Two good things upfront: The garden is very nice and the views into the valley to the sea are beautiful. That's the upside. When we arrived it was difficult to get up to the hotel at all since the "street" or better "way" is in very bad condition. It is important you don't have a big car because it is almost impossible to get to the hotel in a big limousine or something similar. Ideally it is a Jeep or at least a small car. Parking is very difficult as well because all the ways are very tight. The entrance hall was so full of luggage and people - it was difficult to even get in. Obviously the farewell breakfast of a marriage was still going on what I understand. The rooms are so tiny that it was hard to put the luggage somewhere. The "bathroom" was so small that I let the door open to not feel like in a cave. I have no clue where the 4-star-rating comes from. Because the house is badly soundproofed you can hear in detail what is happening in the neighbouring rooms which may or may not be interesting. There is an a-la-carte restaurant in the cellar of the hotel which looks romantic due to the old oil-mill which is integrated in the interior. As it was raining we had some water coming through openings in the wall. Apart from this the food was good - however NOT worth the prices. Obviously the owners take advantage of the isolated position of the finca - it takes you at least 10 minutes by car to get to Soller. Since the restaurant is closed on Mondays you are offered a platter of ham and cheese in the evening - interesting for a "luxury retreat". The breakfast itself was good - however, the room was very dark with a huge table - the feeling was a little special since none of the people on this huge table knew each other and also did not try to change it. We wanted to leave the hotel immediately since it was obviously not fulfilling any of the created expectations. We were told that the owners have a very strict non-refund-policy. I tried to convince them - however I failed to do so. The concept is clear that earning money is more important than customer satisfaction which is also a clear position even if I don't like it. So we spent the whole day in Palma just returning to sleep and leave for the airport in the early morning. We will defininitely not come back!

Best stay ever!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed August 20, 2023

Best hotel visit in my life! This hotel really lives up to all standards + so much more. Location and rooms are beautiful. Only recommendation I’ve got is to add breakfast into your stay as there’s no stores nearby. I would definitely go here again!!

Food and location close to heaven

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed August 13, 2023

Stunning food in an equally stunning location. Superb service . Not sure what else to add . A long and winding road to this slice of Mallorcan heaven is well worth the effort. The Duck Cannoli was stunning and the chicken croquettes simply the best ever.
