Here now, and totally disappointed. I have never written a hotel review, but feel it is necessary in this case. Not even close to a five star hotel. Three stars? Musty room; cannot run the AC because the cool air smells heavily of mildew or mold; the entire hotel is a construction site; cannot sit at the pool because of construction on both sides makes it impossible to experience peace; food adequate for a three star hotel, but an embarrassment for a five star hotel; service OK, but mixed in quality; lots of road noise and construction noise in the rooms; furniture cheap and ugly; sloppy painting. Tried to retire to room to find peace but buzzing saw noises for resonates throughout. Spa closed, though this was not disclosed. For $700 a night? Truly awful.

What an amazing place! We stayed in one of the townhouses. Such an incredible design and location. The interiors were so carefully thought out and beautiful. It gave a great sense of privacy and connection to the natural surroundings. The staff was uniformly friendly and gracious.

Los Altos is teuly a luxery hotel and experience. As a diamond mwmber we were upgraded to a higher level room. The room was huge (actually cavernous), with stunning ocean views. The service was outstanding. Christian at the front desk, Ines at the restaurant, every member of the team was lovely. Breakfast was extraordinaary and so freah and delicious. The infinity pool is beyond beautiful with cabanas you would expect to pqy hundreds extra for included in the price. I highly recommend the complimentary yoga classes with Carrie on a speciql platform overlookng the ocean. There were awesome nature trails and we saw sloth, parrots, monkeys and so many other animals right on property. The beach is rugged, wild and beautiful. The attendant providwd chairs, towels, drinks, and went out of his way to point out a mama and baby sloth and monkeys! This hotel is really amazing. I would gibe 10 stars if I could!

This is hardly a 5-star property and should not be part of the Small Luxury Hotels group. The customer service by both the front desk and management is despicable and the property itself has potential but is in a total state of “transition” as far as construction, updates, facilities and amenities. It is not very handicap-friendly, though if you can make it up the steep hill, there are a few shops and restaurants that are convenient. The website is completely misleading- there is only 1 restaurant onsite, the private beach is actually a 35-minute ride each way, and the spa is under construction. Stay away until they resolve their operational issues.

Incredible View! Our 2 story townhouse was perched on the side of a mountain. Both floors had floor to ceiling glass windows allowing the most beautiful views of the Arenal volcano from the living room or our infinity pool. The design had curved wooden stairs that could be a bit dangerous if you didn't pay attention as they are open on the side. The beds are some of the most comfortable I've ever slept in, with smooth linens and fluffy pillows. Every morning we had incredible breakfasts chosen from a menu, but always including fresh tropical fruit and Costa Rica coffee. The friendly staff drove us down a steep mountain road to the private beach, set up chairs and umbrellas, gave us towels and made drinks to order. And it was an easy walk to the town with its variety of restaurants. Amazing stay!
