Shana Hotel & Spa

I came here with some friends- we're all late 30s, early 40s professionals from the city. Overall, I had a fun time, but this is not a luxury resort. Pros: -nice location and views -adult swimming pool -great drinks and free breakfast with lots of fresh fruit -a golf cart to take you up and down the steep hill -on-site bookings for activities that were not overly priced -hot showers and A/C Cons: -they hotel provided beach towels but they are worn and small and you can only get one at a time. some poolside chairs are broken and all are uncomfortable. I suggest sitting at the bar because those seats are the most comfortable. -staff is nice but many are fake nice- and gossip in front of you which is awkward (i knew spanish and they didn't know lol) -the walls in the rooms are thin; I could hear my neighbors next door and the folks above me -and last but not least- they were very pushy multiple times about leaving a tripadvisor review! i must have received 4 separate requests. when i am on vacation i want to relax not be solicited multiple times with specific requests of including their names, tasks they did, etc., i understand they are trying to get more folks to come, but just request a review once upon checkout. if you provide exceptional services, we'll leave a review, and you won't have to ask so many times

Staff was amazing. Wifi is fast. View is spectacular. It is a 5 min walk down the jungle trail on property to the beach. STAFF makes this place great! There are steep hills and beautiful views and beach. Pool over looks the mountains. We stayed at the basic room and while it was a walk up hill to everything the room itself was impeccable

We had the pleasure of being guests at the Shana by the Beach Hotel. From Day one, we felt welcomed by all the staff, especially the restaurant personnel: Don Javier, Eriet, Andre, Alex, Edgar, Ericka, and the rest of the staff. Wonderful hotel by the beach! Great pool areas, loved the restaurant for breakfast, cocktails and dinner alongside mischievous monkeys, tropical birds and sloths in nearby trees. Wonderful service by Ian booking day trips exploring waterfalls, white water rafting and night walks in the rainforest. Great location for families with younger kids and teens. The rooms were nicer than pictured online and very spacious and comfortable. Highly recommend!

Just adding to my previous review of our great experience at Shana, since the Trip Advisor would only allow 1 review of the same place per month... Really enjoyed our stay, accommodations, and food. Every staff member was friendly and helpful. Would like to mention Fiona at the reception who went out of her way to decorate our room for my wife's birthday. Other people were great too but we didn't get everyone's name.
