Breaking winter darkness in Banus

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

The terrace of my room facing the mediteranean sea and south was extremely convenient to relax comfortably in the winter sun! It's simply magic to avoid wind and the season's freshness with a great feeling! Very cool experience which I recommend in Gran Hotel Guadalpin Banus Superior rooms.

Great hotel for Feb break.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Just returned from Gran Guadalpin for 7 nights. February weather amazing. Hotel staff lovely. Really chatty and welcoming. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite because our lock on our patio door was broken on our Superior Double. Junior Suite was fab with massive terrace and stunning views of pool and sea. Breakfast lovely with chef cooking all types of eggs also lovely pancakes, massive array of fresh cut fruit and croissants. Lunch food by pool good and reasonable prices. Evening meals good at hotel but there are some lovely restaurants a short walk along the promenade with Puerto Banús a short 15 min walk away and also San Pedro the other direction is about 10 mins walk. Exotica Restaurant in San Pedro lovely. Great staff and food top class. Overlooks the seafront. All in all great trip and lovely weather for February. 21 degrees most days we only had one day of cloud.

Not 5 star

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Thought I would give this hotel a try as the rates were reduced as most of the facilities are close at present due a legal battle with some Tennants, basically nothings open apart from the small internal restaurant that serves breakfast , the same venue offers some snacks and drinks throughout the day but there’s nothing else open! No pool, no spa ect The rate for the hot tub suites wasn’t too bad in comparison to the height of the season prices but we are in Feb ! I must add this hotel is now looking Very dated , It would have been top class 20 years ago but it’s really showing its age now. The hot tub in my suite didn’t work properly the decking is coming apart the furniture is dirty and passed its sell by date , basically this hotel needs a full refurbishment as soon as possible , I’m sure the owners will try to get another couple of years out of it but i won’t be staying there again until it’s been updated. Certainly Not 5 star in any way whatsoever, I will add that the staff were helpful and professional and the Suites though dated we're a great size with 2 huge terraces but again the refurbishment should of started a couple of years ago.

Perfect place for a quick winter break

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

In desperate need of a short break away we were lucky enough to find this absolute gem of a hotel for our stay. Right on the beach, only 15 minute walk to the harbour of Puerto Banús, great for restaurants & bars & designer brand shops if that’s your thing! Parts of the hotel were closed, we knew that before going, but the hotel is great, we were very well looked after by the staff, exceptional customer service from every staff member, from the warm welcome on arrival to our saying a sad farewell when we left. We had a lovely room on the top floor, with a balcony that enjoyed the afternoon/ evening sun & a glimpse of the sea. However we were intrigued by the larger suites & upgraded to a junior suite, with a lounge, kitchen area, larger terrace etc… but the roof terrace with loungers, large rattan sofas & a hot tub absolutely took our breath away, definitely worth the extra! We will be back!

Lovely stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Arrive earlier than check in time, they were accommodating and let us check in early. We had a street view, but enquired if we could change to a pool view and helped us with that. The staff are so friendly. The view from our room can see the pool and beach, it was beautiful. Seeing the reviews of this hotel beforehand, they said it was dated, I don't know what they expect, but it was clean and didn't dampen our stay. We went at the beginning of Feb, so I think it may have been off peak season, so a lot of the beach area entertainment wasn't on. Overall, it was a really good stay.
