Couples mixing golf with relaxation and sightseeing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

There was little to fault during our four night stay with three other couples. The hotel is impressive and very clean with the bedrooms very comfortable. All facilities are easy to access and as golfers the courses a 5 minute walk from the reception. With the weather excellent our tee times were mid morning so we were able to finish golf and head back to the outdoor pool to reflect on our game and enjoy the poolside bar. All staff were excellent and always ready to serve you. The pool bar offered a good range of drinks and food with poolside service also provided. The breakfast area is large with the choice to eat alfresco in the sunshine. The hotel also operates a shuttle bus to Marbella and Porto Benus which you can book at no additional cost. We found the taxis to be reasonably priced and readily available for a party of eight. Transfer time from the airport to the hotel was approx. 40 minutes. We would highly recommend the Westin Le Quinta and will return in 2025!

Hotel 2/10, Golf Courses 4/10

This is not a 5 star golf and hotel resort. Hotel. Reception is appalling. The dark haired woman just lies day on day. Our first room was awful, it looked on to the road and had a huge tree blocking any view at all. We went back to reception, she claimed there were over 100 rooms booked by one party the following day and couldn’t move us. We pushed and eventually got a room with a pool view. Funny enough, the resort was dead and guess what, no big party arrived the following day! We had 2 power cuts in our room. The cleaning was rubbish, the tea and coffee never replenished, milk jugs left for days attracting flies and the when the bed was changed the out damp sheets on it! Pool bar was poor service, we waited an hour for a snack despite seeing others being served after us and their food arriving before. A glass of wine was served in a gin glass and food left lying around for hours. The garden areas are unkempt and there is soil all over the floors around the pool. Breakfast was chaos. The hot plate food was cold, the toaster set on fire three times during our stay and the waitresses either forgot to bring the teas or brought the wrong ones. We requested a late checkout and guess what, the same woman from the start suggested that there is a huge booking arriving the following day so no rooms available. The best they can do is allow you to shower in the spa. Yes, a 5 star hotel only offers a shower in a spa for late checkout!! As Marriott Gold card holders, this is just not the level of service we ever expect at a 5 star hotel. Golf - we were booked to okay four rounds of golf on the Weston courses and one on Marbella Golf. Marbella golf contacted us prior to arriving to advise us the course was in poor condition. We had the option of playing it with a 50% refund or getting a full refund. We chose the latter. Unfortunately we found all 3 of the 9 hole courses at Westin were in appalling condition. However, they are continue to charge €140 pp to play it. They have spray painted large areas of the course because it is so poor, the edges of the greens have this awful grass which just stops the ball dead and prevents any roll. On 3 of the 4 days there were no Marshalls and play was extremely slow and we only saw the drinks cart out once in the 4 days. The pro shop is chaotic, the girls on the counter have no idea what they are doing. They try and push the two balls on to the B course every day. When you are playing four times you want variety but they are difficult and really don’t care, they have your money. The balls and clothing are extortionately priced and despite playing four times plus staying in the hotel, we didn’t even get so much as a ball marker as a token gift. I would not recommend this hotel to couple or golf groups, nor the courses. Having played algae courses earlier in the year these are of absolutely no comparison and the Marriott Domes Lakes in Villamora is a better hotel for both standard and service. Give this place a wide berth.

Average hotel, but great employees

First of all, I would rate the hotel a three but the people were just awesome and they are the reason I’m giving the property of solid four! The property itself needs to be redone new furniture new carpet just a revamp. The property itself is very nice. The restaurants are marginal but again the people are fantastic. Really enjoyed and I would go back there again.

Very Enjoyable Stay

Likes: - Very reasonable point redemption - Although the property couldn't fulfill my Suite Night Upgrade request, they did give me an top-floor end room with a view (Titanium) - Valet garage parking for only 10E/day - Shuttle service to/from hotel and Marbella and port - Excellent views from the room (on the backside, anyway) - Terrace with comfortable seating - Heavenly beds - Friendly, hard-working breakfast staff. They were super-attentive - Multiple outdoor dining options - Interesting walking in the area, especially if you enjoy architecture - Laid-back vibe (in a good way) Dislikes: - WiFi weak at end rooms: plan on running your webinar/virtual meeting from a public space - Music played at outdoor events penetrates the sleeping rooms (all they need to do is just turn down the bass a little)
