L’Hotel Marrakech, a historic riad originally part of a Caidal palace, is an exceptionally designed retreat in the heart of Medina. Owner and famed designer Jasper Conran has made his mark throughout the retreat, combining Moroccan craftsmanship with pieces from his personal collection. The five suites surround a courtyard and swimming pool, providing guests with a homey feel to their stay.

This riad is well located (though you have to walk for 3-5 minutes from the nearest parking), recently refurbished and well kept. It presents itself as a 5 star establishment, has a number of staff seemingly willing to advise you of the location, places of interest, restaurants, etc. Obviously there are some inconsistencies with 5-star alleged status - swimming pool, which is very small and "family cuisine" type restaurant on site, which did not meet our expectations, which have been formed by the management's presentation of the set menu. In reality, the food, lamb tangine in particular was a disaster. But this is not the main reason for my review and low rating. Couple of things seemed odd or strange, when first we were seen to our suite (which by the way is fine, medium sized, with some modest period furniture). We were told that it is riad policy that there are no keys on the suite entrance door. And the safe deposit box (with an electronic lock) did not work. So we had to request some staff member to help us to repair it. To make the story short - we left some considerable amount of euro cash at the box around 15.00 (left for town, then had the dinner at the riad restaurant) and next morning after breakfast (which is also by the way quite mediocre) discovered that a part of cash (3 thousand euros) has disappeared from the safe deposit box. We immediately informed the manager (Mr Halid, if not mistaken) of the theft and then listened to his stories of the riad honest staff, 9 or 6 years of the team success, etc. He also allegedly talked to his superiors to make the decision on compensating us for the theft, but ultimately decided to do nothing, probably because we had our scheduled flight later the same day. We spent the rest of our short stay in Marrakech, which we liked as a city, in the local police where we filed the report of the theft. Today I checked with Mr Halid by email whether there are any news from police. Guess what his answer/reaction was? Right - none. Conclusion - this riad's management is hypocritical and insincere in its dealing with the customers and they do NOT value their reputation. So make your decision where NOT to stay next time you are in Marrakech

My wife and I visited Marrakech in September, 2024, and stayed at the gorgeous L'Hotel Marrakech for four days. As soon as we stepped through the unassuming door, we found ourselves transported to a charming, tranquil, and elegant oasis hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding Medina. The service at L'Hotel Marrakech is absolutely first class. All of the staff are kind, cheerful, and tremendously helpful. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them, and their advice and support really helped to make both our stay at the hotel and our time in Marrakech in general very, very enjoyable. Our room (the Asilah Suite) was simply splendid. It was such a lovely place to retreat to at the end of a hectic day, and, like much of the hotel itself, its old world charms created a very unique and delightful atmosphere. And the food -- oh, mon dieu, the food! Every morning we were greeted with a breakfast fit for royalty. The array of jams and honey were exquisite, as was the fresh fruit salad. And if you're an egg person, you should definitely give the Moroccan omelette a try. It might be the best omelette I have ever eaten! The course dinner is also well worth it. The lamb tajine and the chicken tangier were both sublime, and we were very blessed to be able to enjoy our meal with the hauntingly beautiful accompaniment of the evening call to prayer ringing out from the surrounding mosques. Thank you to all of the amazing staff at this charming little riad -- and an especially big thanks to Omar, whose wise guidance and sense of humour were a big part of this 5-star review. If, like my wife and I, you are considering a handful of different riad/hotel options for your forthcoming trip to Marrakech, do yourself a favour and stop searching any further. L'Hotel Marrakech is a simply amazing place to stay.

The worst luxury hotel experience I have ever had. We arrived at the riad and were shown to our room which smelled of mildew. We were visiting during Ramadan and had taken the time to email the hotel ahead of time and ask if there were any particular restrictions we should be aware of while staying with them, asking specifically if they would be able to serve cocktails or wine, to which the hotel indicated that some other establishments may refuse to serve locals but for a foreigner visiting with them there would be no such restrictions. Upon arrival, I had to attend to a few emails after a day of travel and called to the front desk and asked if we could have two beers sent to our room. We were informed that the hotel does not serve alcohol. Naturally this was confusing to us given the email correspondence. Naturally we wish to be respectful of the local culture, but at the same time we are wine enthusiasts and at this point it felt like a bit of deception on the hotels part. When we spoke to the manager he indicated that all guests are supposed to be informed of this upon booking but acknowledged there was an oversight on their part and we were not told of this, and couldn't explain why it again was not brought up when we emailed asking about this very topic despite acknowledging the hotel does not have a liquor license. One of the part bizarre moments was when the manager then offered to go out and bring the next day and bring back wine for us. Needless to say this made us quite uncomfortable as we were certainly not asking the hotel to break local laws. We just wish they had not been so deceptive.

Delightful Riad in the Medina. Wonderful staff. Very much like staying in the beautiful home of an old friend with just 5 rooms and attentive care. A gem - and a very different experience of old Morocco from staying in a big hotel. We spent 4 nights there which gave us time to get a real feel of the old city.

My wife and I stayed in a suite here for five nights in Jan 2024. It was our first time visiting Marrakech and I will admit I was very intimidated by the city’s layout. However, upon checking in, our concierge took us through a map of the city, noting places of interest and giving tips on interacting with the city’s inhabitants. Our room was spacious, on the ground floor and had a private terrace in the open area of the Riad (which is filled with trees and local birds). The hotel offers food and non-alcoholic drinks (so definitely bring a bottle of wine with you if you’d like to enjoy it on the rooftop or in your room - they will keep it on ice for you and serve you as needed if you like). The staff are incredibly kind and helpful. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a hotel in Marrakech (whether you’re a newbie like us or an expert!) Cannot wait to come back!
