Wow! This hotel's reputation is very well deserved. The interior and rooms are stunning. You feel a sense of history about the place - it's a destination in itself. The service is exceptional, generally very warm and welcoming but in one or two areas a bit too formal for modern times. The grounds are the best I have ever experienced for a city hotel, they are extensive and immaculate, teaming with birds and the wonderful scent of Jasmine, I'd return just to see it when the roses are in bloom! The food was generally very good quality though we were a little disappointed by the Morrocan resteraunt. The poolside lunch buffet desserts are to die for! We will definitely return.

Been staying at the Mamounia for 40 years. It’s an iconic hotel which ticks all the boxes for 5 star+ luxury. However on this visit, the first in 5 years, things have changed. Not much, but service, although still friendly and polite has lost some of the polish. Drinks menus thrown back on the pile by the waiters at the bar. They talk too loudly to each other in the background. Restaurant reservations were messed up internally. Le Marocain was bland and very expensive for what you received, a drop from previous levels. The Italian is average and the Asian is quite good but not excellent. I hope that they can address these issues and put the shine back in this wonderful place

Our check in experience was VERY slow. We watched several groups arrive after us and get checked in with almond milk and dates and were just left sitting there wondering if we did something wrong. The biggest problem was the construction noise above our room and the apparent lack of interest that the front desk staff had in investigating the source. I initially called the front desk to complain about what sounded like drilling and hammering. The front desk women promised to investigate the source and call us back. After an hour and a half, there was no call so I called back and was told there was no construction in the hotel. I tried to go back to sleep, we just flew in from the US and was very tired. The noise kept going and got worse so I called down again. Our impression was the front desk was annoyed by our calls, as if saying “what do you want us to do about it. There is no construction.” I was adamant that there was construction above us and to please find the source. She promised to call us back and never did. I would have expected an offer to move rooms or at the very least a phone call from the front desk to let us know the source of the noise. Finally, after I walked down to the lobby and stood in front of the staff, she responded that yes, your hotel was working on the unit above us and sorry, they have asked the work to be stopped. I went back up to the room and the drilling noise stopped but the hammering continued. Finally, we just left the room out of frustration and walked around the Medina since we couldn’t sleep. Too bad since this is an incredibly beautiful property,

We took the set afternoon tea in the Salon de Thé. It was expensive so we were looking forward to a special experience. The bread was stale in the only two savoury things included. The scones were poor quality and served with a vanilla sauce rather than cream. Overall a great disappointment. Perhaps expecting a good afternoon tea in a Marrakesh hotel was a mistake, but we felt like a change from Moroccan cuisine. Lesson learned!

Terrible. Every person I met in Morocco was kind, hospitable, and genuinely friendly....except the staff at La Mamounia. I cannot describe how overrated this place is, staff are entitled and brusque, the only place in the country where breakfast isnt included and for 7 times the money. Skip it, stay in a Riad. One of the cornerstones of Islam is hospitality, its everywhere in Morocco except here.
