Great Hotel - Even Better Staff!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Great hotel, perfect location! I stayed here on a quick two-night visit to Marseille by myself and was so glad I chose to stay here. The location made it easy to explore the city on foot, and waking up every morning to a view of the old port was really nice. The staff is amazing - everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. In particular, Thomas at the front desk went above and beyond. He accommodated my morning arrival and graciously let me check in early...even with an upgrade. I told him it was my first visit to Marseille and was just there for two quick nights, and being able to get settled in the room early so I could explore the city made all the difference. I'd highly recommend staying here.

Beautiful hotel but worsted restaurant breakfast service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

The hotel reception are very kindly people, the opera suite was beautiful, nice, big bath room with a nice tube, separate shower,. The only worse was the buffet breakfast, Cost €33 per person but I'm feel is a robe because the they open from 6:30 till 11:00 am, and we arrive at 10:15 the trays was almost empty and nobody refill or replace for more food, they tell us we can request some from hot plate to order, and the waiter's are lazy, they act like they don't listen to you, and when they deign to serve you, they bring cold food and very reluctantly, as if they were going to give you charity.I didn't have anyone to complain to, they charged me €66 and I didn't have breakfast. And when I checked out I passed my complaint but they ignored it.

cold and uncomfortable

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

we were really disappointed with our choice to stay at the sofitel. the location was much more inconvenient than we expected, with a long, hilly trek required to reach the center of vieux-port and any metros (the bus stops closer but the concierge basically told us not to use it). service can best be described as disengaged and cold. it took two tries with maintenance to get our air conditioning working (we were clearly not the only ones with an issue since a toolbox set sat in the hallway of our floor by the elevator for the duration of our stay), and we received no follow up about it to make sure things were ok. the room is tight, with most of the space dedicated to a large bath. we would have preferred more living space. the "business center" is a round table in the open lobby where noise carries both from your conversations and the lobby's. overall, an uncomfortable place to stay and we mostly looked forward to departing.

Fantastic stay - high quality service and hotel - a wonderful experience!

Fabulous stay - everything was perfect! A lovely hotel in a great, safe location, easy walking distance to the Vieux Port. The room was spacious, clean and quiet with luxury bathroom and products. All the staff were professional, friendly and attentive, in particular Anna, who organised the reservation, and the reception staff. Wissal, was super helpful in liaising with the Chef who kindly provided special treats for my daughter's birthday. The room was very spacious, clean and quiet with a luxury bathroom and products. Enjoyed the complimentary items, including illy coffee The Sky Lounge staff were great and we enjoyed drinks with amazing views over Marseille Vieux Port. A beautiful evening at the Les Trois Forts, with delicious food and wine. Our waiter was delightful and made the evening very enjoyable and relaxing. The view exceeded our expectations- stunning! Luxury in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with great service from everyone made it a wonderful vacation.
