Reviews for Fairmont Mara Safari Club

Oasis in the Bush

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

I spent a week at the Fairmont Mara club. I have stayed in many hotels and I have done a few safaris, this was an experience beyond anything I ever imagined. Usually after a few days I tend to miss the comfort of my home. This was not the case at the Fairmont. I never even thought about going home and was surprised when the last day was upon me. I have hardly ever felt this welcomed and looked after. The entire staff was absolutely wonderful, warm and kind. Firstly, the driver/guide who was assigned to me was truly remarkable. I have met excellent guides before but this man was something else, he is in an another league entirely. Alfred is a Masai, so he knew the area to a level I can’t even claim to know my own hometown. I did all my game drives with him (including night game drive). I also did a bush walk which was an unforgettable experience. He patiently taught me about the plants and showed me the tracks of the animals (we got to see hippos quite close and many other animals). I dare say I learnt a great deal from Alfred. I also did a bike ride and on that occasion Charles and Ruben went with me, they were both really great. That 24km bike ride was rather fun and challenging which was exactly what I needed. The room was luxurious and comfortable. Everything is provided including an excellent hairdryer, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, shaving kit, cotton buds/earbuds and a safe. The bedding is very comfortable, I slept soundly despite it being in a tented camp. The extra touch of leaving a hot water bottle in the bed to warm it up before bedtime was the most wonderful experience. Geoffrey looked after my room throughout and he did an incredible job. The food was exceptional every time. I dare say I ate far more than I should have. The hotel has a garden where they cultivate many of their vegetables, fruit and herbs, this means everything is very fresh. They were also very accommodating of dietary requirements. I don’t mean just making do, they actually went out of their way to offer options that not only were gluten free and lactose but also delicious. The staff at the restaurant were all incredible. Rose and Mary were always so welcoming and kind. On my last day, they brought a cake and sang for me, I was incredibly touched by the gesture, made me feel sad to leave. A great thank you to all the team, including Nancy and Mercy. There were also other people who contributed to my wonderful holiday, I unfortunately am not good at remembering names.. If you are looking for a warm and welcoming oasis in the middle of the savannah, this is it, look no further. Though everything was perfect, if I had to say one thing could be improved is the lack of active activities or a gym. I’d say it would have been great to have a small gym to exercise a bit perhaps. However, I appreciate there isn’t much space to set this up but that would be a great addition. I will return, that’s for sure!

Amazing stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

I was really hesitant about going to this hotel because it was so close to rainy season but I am really glad I did. Fairmont Mara safari club exceeded all my expectations. From the moment you get of the airplane their staff make sure that you have the best guest experience. The property is really beautiful and well maintained. The rooms are decorated with taste. The food quality is excellent and everything was so tasty. However the level of service is what truly set this property apart. I stayed at other 5 star hotels in big cities like Singapore or New York but no where I ve seen this attention to details and level of personalization. I really felt home and can't wait to go back with my family.

A Sweet Venue with Excellent Service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Great Experience at the Fairmont Mara Safari Club, a luxury tent resort. The resort is in a great location for game drives; very clean; friendly, helpful staff; excellent meals; nice pool; nice grounds for an afternoon stroll. Also a special thank you to our game driver, Alfred Mara. He was awesome! He was always prompt; courteous; able to find game and/or birds; was very knowledgeable and a special bonus was that he was excellent lighting for those of us wishing to take better photographs. We would love to stay here again.

Fantastic time at FAIRMONT MARA

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I usually do not write reviews but this one is for the outstanding service we received from the staff at FAIRMONT MARA and our safari guide Dominic. As they say, Masai can smell a lion. Dominic had very keen eyes, lots of enthusiasm and outstanding knowledge of local flora and fauna. We did 12 safaris and one night safari (didn’t miss a single one over 6 days) and each one of them was outstanding and unique. Saw all the animals that could be seen Rooms could have been more luxurious, possibly they are at other places, however they are adequate and well maintained, cleaned and serviced twice daily, hot water bottles are thoughtful and they did provide a table fan on request . Overall a very memorable stay

Luxurious glamping retreat and safari base

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

My husband and I had a wonderful experience: The tent accommodation was luxurious, clean, and thoughtfully equipped, the food was great and there was a variety to choose from a la carte. The atmosphere was very relational and welcoming. Our safari guide and driver Dominic was kind and knowledgeable. He answered our questions and found the wildlife we were most interested in. Aside from the large animals he impressed us with his detailed knowledge of birds. We enjoyed a long morning out with Dominic, complete with breakfast under a tree in the park on the way to a Massai village. The first night the hippos created an interesting, but noisy soundscape. Good to bring wax earplugs!
