ONCE IN A LIFETIME SAFARI

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We stayed here for only 2 nights and done 3 drives. Check in was swift and less than 15 minutes drive frim the airstrip. We had one of the deluxe rooms and Caleb was our room steward. The room was immaculate and caleb was very friendly and chatty and also got us a fan that we barely didn't need. Our room was about 10 minutes walk from reception but we could have phoned a cart. Our driver was Alfred and he was out this world. We seen everything we wanted to see and our drives were longer than expected. The breakfast at the hippo lake we will never forget. Alfred was very informative and easy to chat to. The walk.with the rhinos was again unbelievable and totally unexpected. Alfred your a star. The food was excellent but we thought the dinner was a bit below par for a 5 star hotel. The lunch though was excellent and we only had 1 breakfast but that was also good. All the staff were lovely and although we will probably never do another safari we would recommend this hotel.

The best stay of our life!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Our honeymoon at Fairmont Mara Safari Club was the best and most memorable experience of our lives! Every moment was exceptional, thanks to the incredible staff who made us feel so at home. Special thanks to Lenkoko, who went above and beyond to ensure we had the best safari adventure; to Mary and Gerald, whose warm hospitality and attention to detail made our stay unique and delightful; and to Adan, who made us feel like we had a home away from home. We highly recommend participating in as many experiences as possible and definitely not missing a safari. We were lucky enough to see 4 out of the Big 5, but also encountered so many more amazing animals. The hot air balloon experience is also a must! While it’s the most commercial, you can’t beat the breathtaking views of the plains from the balloon, and the bush breakfast included is a real "pinch me" moment. Gerald and his team are also expert mixologists—don’t miss trying their locally inspired cocktails, especially the dawa! I also had a massage during my stay which I couldn't recommend more. In terms of facilities, they are superb. The tent design makes it feel more authentic , but it's a very luxurious stay with all the amenities and services you'd expect to see at a Fairmont. We couldn’t be more grateful to the entire team and have already recommended this magical experience to all our friends and family. We can’t wait to return someday! Patricia & Seb

Amazing and unforgettable experience

We had the best family holiday at the Fairmont Mara. Huge thank you to the amazing team that looked after us. Caleb - thank you for being the best pen pal to my daughter, she thoroughly enjoyed the notes you left for her every day in our room and loved writing back to you! Vivian, Rose, Beth thank you for your amazing hospitality. I can’t recommend this hotel enough, the rooms are stunning, grounds are beautiful, food is plentiful and delicious and experience was the best we have ever had. We loved spending time in the pool during the day, checking out all the hippos at hippo corner, the balloon ride, safari (seeing 4 out of 5 of the big 5 repeatedly) and visiting the Masai village. A magical experience that we will never forget!

Oasis in the Bush

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I spent a week at the Fairmont Mara club. I have stayed in many hotels and I have done a few safaris, this was an experience beyond anything I ever imagined. Usually after a few days I tend to miss the comfort of my home. This was not the case at the Fairmont. I never even thought about going home and was surprised when the last day was upon me. I have hardly ever felt this welcomed and looked after. The entire staff was absolutely wonderful, warm and kind. Firstly, the driver/guide who was assigned to me was truly remarkable. I have met excellent guides before but this man was something else, he is in an another league entirely. Alfred is a Masai, so he knew the area to a level I can’t even claim to know my own hometown. I did all my game drives with him (including night game drive). I also did a bush walk which was an unforgettable experience. He patiently taught me about the plants and showed me the tracks of the animals (we got to see hippos quite close and many other animals). I dare say I learnt a great deal from Alfred. I also did a bike ride and on that occasion Charles and Ruben went with me, they were both really great. That 24km bike ride was rather fun and challenging which was exactly what I needed. The room was luxurious and comfortable. Everything is provided including an excellent hairdryer, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, shaving kit, cotton buds/earbuds and a safe. The bedding is very comfortable, I slept soundly despite it being in a tented camp. The extra touch of leaving a hot water bottle in the bed to warm it up before bedtime was the most wonderful experience. Geoffrey looked after my room throughout and he did an incredible job. The food was exceptional every time. I dare say I ate far more than I should have. The hotel has a garden where they cultivate many of their vegetables, fruit and herbs, this means everything is very fresh. They were also very accommodating of dietary requirements. I don’t mean just making do, they actually went out of their way to offer options that not only were gluten free and lactose but also delicious. The staff at the restaurant were all incredible. Rose and Mary were always so welcoming and kind. On my last day, they brought a cake and sang for me, I was incredibly touched by the gesture, made me feel sad to leave. A great thank you to all the team, including Nancy and Mercy. There were also other people who contributed to my wonderful holiday, I unfortunately am not good at remembering names.. If you are looking for a warm and welcoming oasis in the middle of the savannah, this is it, look no further. Though everything was perfect, if I had to say one thing could be improved is the lack of active activities or a gym. I’d say it would have been great to have a small gym to exercise a bit perhaps. However, I appreciate there isn’t much space to set this up but that would be a great addition. I will return, that’s for sure!
