The Langham, Melbourne

Arrived at the Langham for our anniversary weekend ...greeted by friendly staff to take our bags and park our car for valet parking Old grand hotel with marble , fountains and beautiful staircase... Reception staff very friendly and ease of check in Arrived at our room, decor not modern and a little outdated but suits type of setting Nice room with view to southbank and beautiful sunset views Cosy bed and pillows Bathroom floor not clean on arrival , bit disappointing Close to cafes and restaurants Breakfast , dinner and high tea available Pool ,sauna and gym Not enough sun lounges around pool area for guests Overall nice stay but prefer something more modern

It was a return visit after 18 years and it was still a good hotel. Great location to art precinct and restaurants.

Had a fabulous stay at the Langham. Great central location. Room is a classic style, but very clean, spacious and comfortable. Loved the pool and sunbathing area which was never crowded. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Great solo trip.

I visited for a business meeting. When I arrived the bellman/attendant didn’t serve me, but instead served the couple who arrived in the car that clearly pulled up after me. After he served them, he asked me in a very off hand way if I was being served. I told him that I was not being served, but there was no apology or recognition of the oversight. My interaction with the staff was not pleasant and I would not recommend this hotel. Unfortunately I worry that my experience may reflect that of a person from a different cultural/ethnic background to the vast majority of their guests. I have brought this concern to the attention of the customer service manager, who said they would get someone to phone back, but after more than a week there has been no phone call. Troubling and disappointing. Not recommended, particularly for people from CALD backgrounds.

This review is of Chief Concierge Peter McBrearty. He is a friendly and knowledgeable member of The Langham’s staff. We were concerned about our early morning departure for Canberra and Peter patiently explained what time to catch a taxi to the airport, to have sufficient time to have breakfast in the Business Lounge and get to the gate in time for boarding. We only wish that we had taken his offer to arrange taxi transport to the airport. As it turned out, we had to contact the front desk via the speaker, since we had turned in our keys and there were no taxis available at 6:30am. Thankfully, we did make it to the airport in time.
