This was my last time at Crown. Rooms are not automatically cleaned and even if there was a lot of dust on the shelves. Pool times were drastically reduced. Elevator waiting times were really bad. Most of the staff were not helpful and pointed to someone else to answer your question. Rubbish on the floor that is not cleaned up. Wall covers falling off. Hotel group seems to have a new owner that is trying to cut costs.

Treating ourselves to a weekend in the city for our 40th wedding anniversary I wanted to stay somewhere special. I was sad to get a room overlooking Clarendon St but that's the luck of the draw. The room was clean and comfortable. On our first day we had to ask for teabags as the supply in our room hadn't been replenished. The next day we put the switch on to have our room serviced and upon returning at 10pm we found it hadn't been done so had to ask for towels and coffee and tea replenishment. Upon check in they take $200 from your credit card for incidentals and return it within a few days. They credited the amount a few days later and then we received a call to say they had credited it twice and we had to pay it back. All up for a 5 star hotel we were pretty disappointed with the service and while its a nice hotel I don't believe it's special enough to charge the amount we paid. With so many hotels available in Melbourne I'm sorry I chose this one and will certainly not be returning or recommending it. Find another special hotel.

We had a family stay at Crown Metropol, and it was fantastic! From the moment we walked in, the service was friendly and welcoming. The kids absolutely loved the pool – it’s huge and really well-designed. They spent hours splashing around, and we enjoyed chilling by the poolside. For the price, we were really impressed. The hotel has a great mix of luxury and value, and it’s in a prime location. The rooms were spacious and modern, with plenty of room for our whole family. Everything was clean and well-maintained, which made the stay super comfortable. We also loved the room service at the hotel. There’s a lot of variety, so whether we wanted a quick snack or a proper meal, there was something for everyone. Overall, Crown Metropol was a great choice for a family getaway. It felt like a treat without being ridiculously expensive. We’ll definitely be back – highly recommend it for families looking for a fun and relaxing stay!

Rooms were okay but be prepared to wait in line for check in. My card didn't work so had to line up again. Had a query about checkout and room service and they only had 3 employees working, and there was about 30 people in line. You would think being a Saturday and check out time, you would have more.

We stayed at this hotel for our recent trip to Melbourne on Melb Cup long weekend. Check in guy was short and rude. Our room was overlooking a carpark full of graffiti. No USB charging ports in the room. We found one in a lamp however as it wasn't it's primary use, the charging took hours longer than if it had of been a power point outlet. Room was spacious although all the way down a dingy hallway. We were on the 9th floor. The biggest disappointment for us was the hours of the pool. It closes at 7pm. By the time you can check in at 3pm, get to your room, get the kids ready for dinner, it was closed and no time to use it after dinner. It didn't open again until 9am and check out is 11am. We headed down at 9am on the dot and it was PACKED! No spare chairs. You couldn't move in the pool more than a metre without touching someone. It was human soup! Windows were also filthy. Would I stay here again, absolutely not. There are much better hotels nearby at similar rates with a better experience. The only thing this has going for it, is it's undercover walking from the Crown complex.
