This was a great hotel in an ideal neighborhood. Everybody was extremely helpful. We loved the speakeasy and the rooftop bar. The concierge took great care of us - I wish I could remember his name but there was one guy with glasses who was really helpful! David was also great. Always making sure we had everything we need.

Pros- Safe location- being two women in CDMX for the first time not knowing what to expect, it was reassuring. Plenty of banks around for ATM withdrawals without any issues. Able to walk nearly anywhere easily. Never an issue with Uber drop offs or pick ups. Concierge - service is wonderful. We planned our quick weekend get away last minute and able to have dinner arranged for us at Pujol and Quintonil. Granted do not think early January is a major tourist time for the city but arrangements were effortless. Room-Nothing fancy but design is fine, clean, spacious. Bed is firm which I prefer. Closet space is the best I’ve seen anywhere with a full length section for long coats/dresses. Thankful I stayed in my room alone because it only had one sink. Cons- Management- 3 sleepless nights due to mystery screeching, knocking sounds all night long. I know they were renovating but at 3AM? Every night? Called each night to complain with no acknowledgment or response from management. They didn't even ask me at check out about my stay. I emailed them during my stay with a recording and after checkout and was told they “immediately contacted me” with no response from me….which time? I didn’t receive a text or call on my cell or hotel phone, no reply to my email and no message waiting at the front desk or under my door. Worse than not caring about customer service is lying that they “tried.” Cityzen- tiny space with terrible food. Guac out of a packet? Disgusting. Truly laughable that they actually have a velvet rope at the entrance. Again maybe this is a happening spot during peak tourist season and we just got the leftovers. Bottomline - now that I know more about CDMX, would definitely stay elsewhere and probably in a different part of the city but for my first visit, appreciated the feeling of security.

Sofitel Mexico City lives up to the reputation of excellence in quality that the brand represents. From the entrance through check in and room service the customer service is exceptional. We stayed on the 25th floor with Club access and have enjoyed the excellent service and amenities. Staff are attentive, welcoming and service focused. Afternoon tea is lovely.

We’ve been to Mexico City numerous times and have typically stayed at Bonvoy properties (St. Regis, Ritz Carlton, JW Marriot) or the Four Seasons. For the price, the Sofitel outshines all of them. The hotel follows the typical standard design, groundfloor entry and then main lobby several floors above. While this requires you to change elevators a few times to get to your room, it does a really good job of security. The hotel is located right on the Paseo de la Reforma and offers the best views of the Angel of Independence. This also means that in winter the hotel is susceptible to restricted vehicular access from the closure of Paseo de la Reforma. The hotel staff is well versed in this and able to guide taxis, Ubers, car service expertly to the backside of the hotel. Design / Layout The design is a mix of French and Mexican influences. The hotel is quite big, nearly 280 rooms, which is quite a bit bigger than I normally prefer to stay. However, the hotel does offer a lot of amenities. The main lobby is on the 14th floor and it has an impressive view of the Angel of Indepedence. Breakfast is served on the 12th floor in Balta, the Michelin recommended Bajel is on the 13th floor, gym and pool are on 38th floor, the L’Occitane Spa in on the 39th floor, and a really incredible rooftop bar, Cityzen. Our superior rooms were about 400 square feet and looked exactly like the pictures on the website – there were no negative surprises. There were a few positive surprises – multiple storage options, very nice L’Occitane amenities, Bluetooth connectivity for in ceiling speakers, app connectivity to the TV to steam own programming from your phone, USB chargers that actually worked. Food We booked through Amex FHR and received quite a few perks including breakfast and some credits. I highly recommend this if you have the option. In a city known for it’s dining, the food in the hotel really stood out. Dinner was exceptional – quality, taste and presentation. Additionally, the breakfast was superb – a buffet, replete with French pastries, and several hot options. I will say the pastries were as good as any that I have had in France. Real taste of European butter, crisp and flaky. The rooftop bar was also wonderful – amazing views and drinks to match. I do recommend a reservation, even for hotel guests. Service I think where the Sofitel really shines is its service. Despite the large size, the hotel feels small with personal service. We didn’t have a single bad interaction with any staff member. Additionally, staff was very happy to provide recommendations on the city, restaurants, sightseeing, what to order on the menus, etc. In my mind this alone would differentiate the Sofitel from other places in CDMX. In summary, we had a wonderful time at the Sofitel and would certainly return on our next trip to CDMX.

My husband and I had most wonderful stay at the Sofitel! We were celebrating our anniversary and my birthday and this stay was exactly what I wanted! They had most delicious cake waiting for us on our anniversary day and the staff at the restaurant brought a cake with special candle at breakfast. Everyone from the concierge team, front desk and the dining staff were wonderful!
