The hotel mis represents the quality of the rooms. The rooms are scary. The hotel is not kept up. And when you want a refund they say it's non refundable. I cannot believe they get away with this to patrons. Look elsewhere unless you want these issues.

Completely misrepresented on all internet sites. No breakfast buffet. Photos of the rooms and site are completely inaccurate. Hotel staff aware of issue and outdated information and do not rectify. Do not book a room at this location....

I concur with the poor reviews. Not updated, beach umbrella broken, room smelled damp. The only saving grace is the view and location. Also I was overcharged and I’ve been trying for a week to get someone to respond to me. I’ve contacted via phone, email, Facebook, Twitter. I’ve got no response. I never received a receipt via email. I was overcharged charged by almost $300 so I am challenging through my credit card. I will never stay here again and I would highly discourage anyone from staying. I never write reviews however. This one has really bothered me. If they had followed up and had better customer service regarding my concerns I may have rated them better. This is not acceptable at all.

This hotel is worn out, dated and requires modernisation. The cleanliness standards were terrible and we only stayed after we checked in, as we had no choice due to no availability elsewhere at that time. The elevator wasn't working, so wasn't available for guests to use. The bathroom was scornful and needs to be ripped out and remodernised. I haven't stayed in a hotel in this decade that still has shower curtains over the bath. Plug sockets were coming away from the wall and the ironing board was broken. In our haste to leave, we forgot to take photographs as we felt that the photos we had seen when we made the booking were inaccurate. Although we booked breakfast, this is serviced by the restaurant downstairs and there is a limited menu for guests, which clearly differed from paying guests to the restaurant. On both mornings, they didn't have some items listed on our limited menu. Staff also reflected the poor standard. They were polite enough when approached, but they could do with some customer service training. We wouldn't stay here again.

My wife and I decided to spend the night at South Beach, before going on our cruise and so splurged to book a room at the Beacon. There were a number of minor "inconveniences", which taken individually, are tolerable and perhaps expected. However, there were enough of them to make our experience terrible. First, it took 30 minutes to check in (4:30 pm) because there were 2 parties ahead of us and 1 person working. Second, the elevator was broken and I had to go up 3 flights with my bad knee. I understand this is unavoidable but the right thing to do would have been to inform us before our arrival or prior to check in and given us the opportunity to change rooms or cancel our reservations. Third, the lights were broken but that was fixed after we informed them. Fourth, the coffee machine leaked. This was an espresso maker with a large reservoir and so the floor was flooded. I called downstairs but....Fifth, the phone system was down. Therefore, I had to make a trip downstairs to request a fix. I made 2 more trips and nothing was done. Sixth, there was a half empty jug of milk in the fridge. A bit disturbing since it indicated that perhaps the room was not properly cleaned and sanitized. Again, we were willing to overlook any 1 or 2 of these but all 6 together was too much. The room cost us nearly 500 total so we are not unreasonable to expect higher quality service. I am trying hard to think of a good or OK experience but there isn't much. The room was nice and quaint. The hotel was right on Ocean Drive, and so in the heart of the night life. The beach was just across the street and they offered complementary bicycles and towels. The person at the desk was nice but ultimately helpless.
