The Tony Hotel South Beach

The hotel is ideally located just off ocean drive. Lovely decor and all the amenities you need, then some. The staff are the best part of the hotel, all so very helpful and polite, a credit to themselves and the hotel. Special thanks to Melanie, Domingo and Jamie. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in south beach Miami. Oh, the avocado on toast was great for breakfast and the pool snacks were delicious, especially the coconut shrimp.

We as a family only stayed for 1 night and wished it was for longer as we never got to enjoy all this hotel has to offer. This is a stunning hotel, in a great location, the rooms are spacious and the beds very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Complementary sun beds and beach towels on Miami beach was an added bonus. We will be back.

We stayed in the beach front part of the hotel, access is via a key card into a small lobby with no staff present. We had a large room on the 2nd floor with a balcony overlooking the beach, the room was clean but the furnishings were very dated. We had advance paid for the room, but found there was a $25 a day resort fee to be paid on checking out

We arrived after a 9 hour flight. The room provided was dingy, outdated, and dusty. We then tried to use the shower, which was hanging off the wall so would not work. We called reception who were meant to sent maintenance, who after 20 minutes still hadn’t arrived. I went down to reception to ask for maintenance myself. They finally came. Maintenance were in the bathroom for around 20 minutes trying to fix the shower whilst we just waited, still not changed or showered. Whilst waiting, I discovered something sticky with a hair attached on my bedside table, which was disgusting . That caused us to go to reception and complain to the Front Office Manager, Robin Gaton. We said that we had been travelling for so long and were so tired, if they couldn’t fix the shower or clean the room properly, then we should be put in another room. The manager was called, and we waited in reception for a further 20 minutes. We were then placed in a ‘suite’ room, which was a larger room (which we didn’t need), however it was equally as dirty. There was dust and dirt literally everywhere, the bathroom was filthy, and we felt unclean constantly. The Front Office Manager, Robin Gaton didn’t check on us once during our stay which was disappointing considering the major issue we had on our first evening. Most concerningly, we attended reception on various occasions to complain about the issues we experienced, and followed this up with a formal complaint. We were told that there was nothing the hotel could do as we did not complain using the ‘emergency number’…. What?? Why on earth would we complain via an emergency number when we had already complained to reception? This is a huge red flag - don’t book this hotel, if you have any issues they will just fob you off and then make up excuses not to do anything about it, absolutely disgusting.

We have just arrived home after an amazing 10 nights at the Tony Hotel. The staff were all super friendly and made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived and went above and beyond to make our stay special. We celebrated my husbands birthday during our stay and they treated us to a bottle of fizz when we checked in and surprised us with cake in our room on the day! The hotel is clean and well maintained, the decor is a little dated but in a retro way and all adds to the charm of this gem. The pool is amazing, the comfiest sun beds ever and feel really luxurious with the attentive team on hand. The perfect place to get some Miami sunshine, take a dip and have a few cocktails. We also visited both the News Cafe and Oh Mexico which offer a discount to hotel guests and both were amazing. Finally, the central location is great and the beach chairs are a fab extra touch if you want to head out to do some sunbathing. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back again.
