Great hotel but a few room niggles

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Stayed for 4 nights in a deluxe king room. Check-in staff helpful. Didn’t eat breakfast but ate dinner twice and food very good and ‘standard Miami price’. Blas was our server on the first night and gets a mention as he was knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. As does the Colombian barman who works Sundays (his name escapes me) who gave excellent cocktail recommends in happy hour. Lovely pool area. Didn’t sit on beach. There were a few room niggles: - blasting aircon even on the lowest fan setting. I have dry eye disease and it upset my eyes to the point of having to reverse sleeping arrangements with our heads where the feet should be to avoid it blowing on my face at night. Who knows what housekeeping thought of this! - nice sofa in the window but where were the lights? The room was lit by two desk lamps only. No overhead or freestanding lights so you couldn’t read on the sofa after dark. -said desk lamps on a desk behind the headboard (bed in centre of room). So not bright enough to read in bed either and no bedside table! - only mirror was in the bathroom above the sink and got steamed up. - grim bacterial slime around plughole when I took the plug out to investigate why it wouldn’t close. Cleaned it myself with an antibacterial wipe. Room seemed a case of style over substance and practicality. Shame as rest of hotel lovely including staff.

Beautiful Boutique Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

It's a beautiful hotel, boutique-y, stylish, super clean. beautiful beach and pool area. Be aware that there is heavy construction on both sides of this property. On either side, neighbors are rebuilding large construction, so daytime noise can occur.

Beach Cabana Service

Couldn’t have enjoyed this experience without Issac’s beach services. Thank you Issacc; this young man was personable and very customer service driven & super professional. Without a doubt this hotel needs to know that this young man is holding it down outside. Thank you again!

Delicious dinner!!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

We ordered the pan seared snapper and the pork shank and it was fantastic. Highly recommend this place for dinner. Our server Sofia was also great. The ambiance is pleasant, it's quiet by the beach. We are happy we chose to dine here tonight. Complements to the chef!

5 star service in a 3 star hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

This hotel is tired. The rooms are small and have seen better days. We had oceanfront room with a balcony. The room was smaller than a European hotel and the bathroom even smaller. The towels are well worn and a few had holes as did my pillowcase. Shower works well with good pressure. Bed clean and comfortable. The hallways are gloomy. There is a lot of construction on both sides of the hotel so noise is an issue. We could only use our balcony on Sunday when there was no construction. On the positive side, the staff are lovely. Check in was easy and we were offered a glass of Prosecco. Isaac and the team at the beach are terrific. The restaurant team at breakfast were attentive. The breakfast buffet is adequate with ample cold items and hot items. So how did this hotel get so many 5 star reviews? The staff are keen to get you to complete a review and will help you get started and give themselves the 5 stars and suggest you complete the text complimenting the service. The staff deserve the 5 stars. The property does not. I wouldn’t stay here again.
