great location! room is ideal for 2 adults we had 2 young adults with us to sleep in pull out sofa bed it was ok comfy for them . room has nespresso coffee machine, toaster, microwave and fridge it also had chairs, towels and umbrella for beach wich was really great. Easy walk to beach and resto. Pharmacy walking distance to go buy drinks and food. The only negative comment would be pool area is missing "love"missing plants, flowers etc... but in all had long chairs and table to sit around pool (curtains seperating units for privacy have seen better days but concept is great). great short vacation would definiyely go back

We booked here almost 2 years in advance to stay prior to a cruise out of Miami port and post cruise. We have 5 family members. We booked 2 rooms. One to sleep 2 guests and one to sleep 3 guests. On arrival having travelled for well over 12 hours and exhausted we were informed the hotel was fully booked and no guarantee of a third bed. We eventually got a bed on wheels delivered to the room 4 hours after we checked in. This was very uncomfortable but we made do. There were towels for 2 guests and only 1 bottle of water between 3. The complimentary shower gel, shampoo etc had been used by previous guests and the little bottles half filled. The sugar, napkin sachets had been opened and sugar removed. On our return post cruise we requested the room be ready to sleep 3. Unfortunately this did not happen. Only 2 towels again and one water. I asked reception for an additional towel and was told I could purchase water from the convenience store next door and additional towels. We did get allocated a room to sleep 3 on our return stay after requesting a few times. We did purchase 2 extra bottles of water for the room but did not have space I our luggage to purchase a towel for 1 night. Disappointed with staff attitude, place smelled strongly of smoked weed. Did not feel safe here. Credit card charged 57$ per room for both nights - $228 total extra. Reception told us on arrival we had paid everything up front and no further fee due?? I would not recommend this hotel at all. Not a good impression of Miami and will certainly book else where in future. We travelled from Ireland.

We have been to this hotel before, but it was years ago and wow has it changed - and not for the good. The lure was the private jacuzzi on the second floor balcony of our suite. It used to also have a large lounge chair that we loved sleeping on at night. When we arrived, the hotel was a little messy and we were told that they are in the middle of renovating. Ok, maybe that’s something the guest should know up front. I personally don’t want to stay in a hotel that’s in the middle of renovations. We get to our room and it has paint tape around the door and door handle. The internet was spotty and when we called about it the response was ‘it goes in and out, there’s nothing we can do about.’ We went to the fitness center and 2 of the 3 treadmills are broken and the other one we were afraid to get on because it looked like it was not in great shape. The weights they had were 1 - 30 lbs and 2 of each for 40 & 50 lbs. walking to breakfast through the open air lobby, there were homeless people hanging out in there. I felt like I was in a cheap motel. The only good thing I have to say is that the bed was comfy. After the first night we checked out and went to Loews a block away. I’m much happier here. It’s a shame because we used to love that hotel but it sure has changed. She did t even ask why we were checking out early so I feel like this is a normal thing that they are used to. She said it’s been under new ownership for a year and they are renovating room by room. Sorry to say that I don’t recommend this hotel.

We stayed this week December 10 2024 the first room started to leak water from the roof, they changed us to another room and it started leaking also. when we talked to the night manager he threatens with calling the police at that point I was having a mini zeisure and the hotel did not render any service or first aid and I had to call 911 for an ambulance, the hotel manager did not even stand from his chair and they did not refund anything not even 1 night

I have stayed at many Sonesta Hotels and they have always been outstanding. This place is a dated dump with terrible service. Worse was we did not feel safe. Hard to believe this is part of the Sonesta chain. The hotel was probably gorgeous when it first opened obviously along time ago. There has been terrible upkeep. Some of the common areas have missing door stops, doors have obvious damage and the trim on our floor looked it was painted with white primer. Our room was large with a roof deck with a hot tub. The hot tub looked gross. Dirty, chipped paint. Would not stop foot in it. The shower bench had a crack. And the whole place looked terribly dated. The furniture on the roof deck was dirty and rusty. One day we saw a police officer bullet proof vest and all across the hall in a room. When we asked downstairs we were told he was there to check the safety of the balconies. When we went outside there was a police crime scene van parked directly in front of the hotel. When we returned at the end of the day we were told there was a break in but that happens all over south beach. Boy that made us feel good. Next morning there was a poor girl walking down the hall knocking on every door with bags of food strung out on something. Very sad. Told front desk and the staff at the front desk told me she was an airbnb guest and likely could not find her room. The front door staff promised to go up and help. But 20 minutes later our friends told us she was still knocking on doors. Turns out some of the rooms in the hotel are actually AirBnbs. Found them online for a couple of hundred bucks a night. No housekeeping and was told you have to request it. No one told us that at check in. I am gold Sonesta member. None of benefits offered at check in. Until this place is overhauled from top to bottom in cuddling the staff I would avoid this place at all costs.
