I was at first suprised by the rather low average rating for this hotel, and realized it was due to the fact that the hotel has been recently bought and renovated. The reviews are basically about two different hotels, and the current one is beautiful. The location and rooms are stunning, comfortable and quiet. I'm removing one star on account of a sub-par breakfast, simply unworthy of a five-star hotel.

It's baffling how this hotel holds a 5-star category. The so-called "lobby" consists of just a table with two outdated MacBook Airs, with no seating area for guests waiting to check-in. The rooms are shabby and in serious need of a complete renovation. The only redeeming factor was the excellent breakfast staff, who were friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, I won't be returning, even if offered a complimentary stay, and I cannot recommend this hotel to others.

In no way is this actually a 5 star hotel. Go with a different option! My room was sparsely furnished to the point of looking anemic and strange. Nothing like the images on the website. It's the middle of summer but the air conditioning doesn't work. They string you along by saying someone is looking into it but on close inspection of other reviews you can see it's been broken for months. They offer you a plastic fan. The room had a terrace that looks at where the hotel dumps their garbage. You can smell it but they try to cover it up with a diffuser in the room. And finally as a whole it's just generally run down. The lights in the lobby flicker, everything is scuffed and dingy. The carpet in the hallways is gross. I guess the location is nice so giving it one star? Just try something else. trust me!

Traveler beware... one thing they do not highlight in the pics of this hotel is the lobby... for good reason. It is pornographic with huge larger-than-life murals of very realistic full-frontal nudity of men and women smiling directly at you. As an art major student years ago, I'm certainly not opposed to the naked human form, in fact I think it's very beautiful and one of the reasons why I came to see Italy was for all the world famous art, but this lobby is something else - vulgar and embarrassing. I felt terrible for some kids that were waiting in the lobby having to see that. My husband and I would look down at the floor whenever we entered the hotel and until we were in the elevators. I thought the smiling naked figures were kinda creepy. If they had some strategic drapery covering them more that would have made us feel a lot more comfortable. We pre-paid a lot of money to stay there 5 nights and we couldn't get out of it. The room we stayed in was nice, although the "king sized bed" was literally 2 twin sized beds pushed together with a lumpy king-size mattresses topper covering it. We could feel the separation between the 2 mattresses. The large room was decorated very nicely and the bathroom was great. One of the reasons we booked this hotel was because the room was large. We were waiting a few days to pick up our son in Milan and wanted him to stay with us in our hotel room on the floor the fourth and fifth day that we were there. We've stayed at many hotels around the world and never had a problem with this. Not this hotel! Despite the fact that their online details say "hotel may charge for additional guests" which we were prepared to pay... the front desk said no, they don't do that. We had to book another room for our son to stay at the same hotel according to them, so we ended up spending about $700/night for 2 rooms unexpectedly. Ugh! Also, the walls are pretty thin. We could hear a scary domestic dispute going on next door one night. We could hear the man yelling profanities at the woman. It was so disturbing and was escalating that my husband banged on the wall for the man to stop and we called the front desk to come check. More sound proofing between rooms and through the adjoining doorway connecting the rooms would have been helpful. I couldn't sleep after that disturbing incident and my husband told me not to go in the hallway in case that angry man next door was there. I hope the woman is okay. Something I did like about the hotel besides the convenient location in the Galleria was the breakfast at the hotel restaurant - lots of pretty art there and a great selection to eat. Everyone working the breakfast shift was really great. Would I stay at this hotel again? Only if they covered up the nudity in the lobby and didn't charge for my one kid sleeping on the floor. We were glad to have the rest of our trip reservations at AirBnB's.

Great location overlooking the Galleria, we had a great time moving around as all the landmarks are close to the hotel and most restaurants, its staff are very helpful and great breakfast, the rooms are very clean and antique, definitely looking forward to coming back.
