Marvellous hotel however… We stayed for one night in this glorious hotel. This is a beautiful property, very comfortable and the service is excellent. We enjoyed everything the hotel had on offer but there was a significant drawback. Our room temperature was 24 C. Immediately after check in we asked if the thermostat could be adjusted. Staff were very understanding and assured us the room temperature would go down. The lowest it got to was 23.5, which is way too hot for a good night sleep. We opened the window to let in fresh, winter air but it didn’t really help. Although almost everything in this hotel was lovely, we will not come back. At check out we discussed the issue with reception and I had the impression they are painfully aware of the problem.

I would never dream of staying in Milan without staying at Principe di Savoia, aka La Principe! This is an excellent historical hotel, sitting beautifully and exotically on a hill (or hillette) -- una colline -- with a great view of a portion of the city and a garden or small park area below. You can see the trams slowly passing by with the song of tracks whispering along the city streets, restfully and poetically. One of the few cities where the trams survive the horror of the automobile and fossil fuel lobby. The rooms are superlatively designed and the services are immediate and exceptional, as are all the services, including the menu, whether in the rooms or in the various dining areas. The staff is exceedingly professional and accommodating. The lobby area is wonderful, and although not to my liking, always filled to overflowing with visitors sporting the heights of fashion. People simply want to be seen at his hotel. There is no question as to why this historic hotel is known affectionately as La Principe! My only negative comment is that instead of the large black and white photographs of brain dead fashion models on the walls, what they should have are pictures of the many historical personages that have stayed in the hotel, including Hemingway and Warhol (dining with Raquel Welch). It is somewhat expensive, but worth it. And during Christmas holiday they do not spare the decorations. Lovely, really, the whole experience. It is among the most refined of 'ladies.' La Principe! I highly recommend it. Also, nearby is an excellent, and one of my favorite eating establishments in all of Milan: Bianco Latte, just a few steps away. La Principe: Brava! Great hotel right in the heart of central Milan. Walking distance to great museums, churches, restaurants, etc. The customer service at the hotel was excellent. We had a room that had something wrong with the heater being too hot and they immediately upgraded us into a even better and different room, no questions asked. Will be back next time in Milan area.
