If your sweet tooth aches when you check into Meliá Milano, there might still be sugar in the building’s bones: This used to be the site of Alemagna cake factory, famous for inventing the traditional Christmas cake panettone. The factory was leveled in World War II, and an elegant hotel took its place in 2001. Rooms are outfitted in rich, neutral colors with heavy brocaded drapes and gilded gold embellishments. For a modern change of pace, book the Diabolik Comic Experience Room, a noire-style tribute to the Italian comic hero.

The staff there was extremely nice, and the lobby is nice too. We would not give a 5 star review to a 5 star hotel that doesn’t have full bathrooms. They have 3/4 bathrooms and the shower doesn’t even have a door or a curtain so the floor of the bathroom gets saturated with water when you shower. But the worst part was they were doing serious construction work at the hotel starting at 8 o’clock in the morning and going on all day. We are talking about jackhammering, breaking tiles, sledge hammering, and a serious headache. If we had known that they were doing this and make no mistake—-it can be heard throughout the entire hotel—if we had known we would NEVER have booked it. We highly recommend that you call before booking because they plan to remodel much of the hotel so for the next months I would not book without making positively sure that ALL of the construction is finished. It was an absolute nightmare to be there during this time. Other than that, it was a cute hotel.

We stayed here for 4 nights in October. Hotel is well maintained, staff paying attention to stay and guests are welcomed. Room is bit on larger side comparing to a typical Europe hotel. Breakfast like any other good hotels in Europe: miles ahead of their American counterpart. Bit far from duomo, subway is convenient, 25 min via M1. Good side it’s quiet.

I have been coming to this hotel for years, more than 10 years at least and it hurts to see what has become of a hotel that used to be our to go hotel in Milan. As a Platinum member (we essentially only stay in Melia where available) I have not experienced so much not caring as in this hotel. In September I booked a room and put a request for an upgrade as it was a special occasion. Upon arrival they informed me that when transferring, my note did not go through and also the next category was available they can not give it to me. Their manager then came to the lounge and informed me that there was an IT issue and also the room is showing up as available on melia.com, the information in there internal systems is showing that the room is not available. Another „IT“ issue. Then I came for one night only in September and left (unfortunately) a cooling bag in a fridge. Because there was an issue with the payment, they wrote me an email about the payment, no mention of the bag. I went back to the hotel and made the payment and asked for the bag. They told me that they found the bag in the room, took out of the fridge and kept it outside for more than 2 hours. They said there was no other fridge in the hotel. I informed that since I stay in the hotel almost every month, there is a fridge in a bar and a reception area for medicine, which was used multiple times with no issue before. They then asked me to sign!!! a paper that there might be an issue with medicine due to them leaving the cooling bag with medication outside!!!! Needless to say I will never stay in this hotel again. So many lies one after the other, not taking any responsibility and trying to pass responsibility for their actions to their clients. Very sad.

Nice hotel, clean and the staff are friendly. Little bit far from the city center but is ok. the only downside of the hotel there is no valet parking nor free parking. But there is a near parking garage that you can park your car at. I recommend for this your hotel

A pleasant hotel a little outside the city center, but with excellent connections. The hotel has good service and a pleasant atmosphere. Breakfast good, but a bit boring. The executive lounge is excellent, so I recommend an executive room.
