Reviews for The Chambers Hotel

Be skeptical

Upon check in, we arrived to our room but we're disappointed because at booking we offered an upgrade to a corner room at a few dollars more a night, so I agreed and upgraded. Our room was not a corner room, but at that point it didn't feel like enough to throw a fit- it still seemed like a nice room for the price, and our own time crunch left me not wanting to debate this and be moved when I could be getting ready. When we got to our room our safe was beeping. After multiple attempts to call the front desk from our room phone, I called from my cell phone and was able to get in touch with someone. A house keeper was sent to our room to reprogram the safe, and I was thankful for that. The lighting in the bathroom seemed like a lot, but is terrible for makeup. The sinks drain incredibly slowly and back up quickly. We went to our events, and upon return discovered our interior deadbolt was not functional. Being 2 am, I opted to not bother a skeleton crew and utilized the other lock. A shower was excellent, but one bathrobe for a king bed rental seemed ridiculous. At 4:30 am the safe started beeping constantly again. I tried multiple things but could not get it to stop. At this point I didn't bother asking for more help knowing that a few hours later it would start up again, besides the difficulty calling the front desk from the room phone, because the issue was clearly deeper than plugging a device in to stop it temporarily. I shut the closet doors and tried to cover up the noise for a couple more hours. Around 8 we headed down for the breakfast. The waffle makers were coated in batter and there was spilled batter everywhere. The offerings otherwise were basic. We opted to not even bother based on the food safety and cleanliness issues present. We paid for breakfast elsewhere. At checkout we mentioned the safe and lock - hopefully both were addressed for the next guests, but in general the response felt insincere from staff. Those issues aside, I would normally highly recommend this venue and book here again for our next upcoming visit to the Orpheum - the room was otherwise quiet, the location is great, parking nearby is easy, and the mattress and bedding were perfect. However, it's not worth a night of not sleeping between the safety issues, a poor breakfast offering (which was one reason I opted for this location, the complimentary breakfast), or the failing safe beeping constantly that I would not trust with its obvious failure. To summarize, the value felt good for the location and amenities, but after the fact it felt like a "get what you pay for" scenario, but even more disappointing.

Tired Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This used to be the trendy hotel to stay at downtown Minneapolis, but now it’s just a tired Motel 6. Once you find the side door entrance, the lobby is unwelcoming. Got to room which was drafty which is why they provide space heaters. Water stained ceiling on ceiling. Broken glass in window, hence the draft. There were no towels. Shower wand was broken and leaking. Lighting was missing in room. There used to be a bar, restaurant, and art gallery at this place and all is gone. There is grab and go breakfast in the restaurant now. Time for someone to take over and put some much needed money in this place. Will not stay there again.

Chambers Hotel stay

Staff was nice and the room was as expected-clean and spacious King size with a nice bathroom and shower. No fan though so it smelt a bit musty. Free bottles of water were pretty mini instead size instead of a regular size but more were available for breakfast. 4 stars because the breakfast was just pre packaged foods and some fruit that didn’t look that great. Also had to walk to a parkade to park the car even though the booking made it sound like parking was part of the hotel. Great location downtown though and felt relatively secure. Not the quietest from hearing people in the hall but pros weigh out the cons.

A great bargain in the theater district

I recently stayed two nights at the Chambers Hotel in Downtown Minneapolis. I chose it because I was attending a concert at nearby First Avenue, which is only two blocks away. The rooms were spacious and attractive. The beds are comfortable. And there is a garage next door that allows overnight parking. It was a great deal for the price.

Cold in every possible meaning of the word

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

Although booked for a few nights to see the Vikings play, whilst moderately priced in conjunction with the location to the US Bank Stadium and a game day. the hotel, staff & breakfast failed to live cup to previous positive reviews, not only was a small portable heater supplied as part of the room's facilities, we had to ask for daily room service, as well as the whole hotel incl. our room was very cold. Whilst during our stay, the weather turned somewhat very cold (-10 with a -13 wind chill factor), the whole hotel was very cold, which included our room that seemingly couldn't go above around 18c degrees and the rest of the hotel being around 16c. When using the breakfast for the first of 3 mornings, the room which was a bar was ridiculously cold ! that seemingly had no heating or had never been turned on. The afro American receptionist seemed both miserable in attitude & expressions & when asking for anything like milk for a coffee, seemed like everything was an effort ! The room itself we had whilst extremely large in size (poorly designed with wasted space that could have been better utilised), had a constant water bubbling sounding when the Air Conditioning was turned on, and yet still blew cold !! IMHO I'd suggest looking elsewhere for accommodation & spending a few extra dollars where you're made to feel somewhat appreciated, as well as warmer in the winter months. The Hotel is extremely basic and cold in every sense. Suggest you look elsewhere depending on your budget
