The warmth of the wilderness comes alive in the chalet-inspired décor, while each of the restaurants offer some of the most delectable cuisine in the region. An idyllic wilderness location and year-round activities, including golf, hiking, and skiing, ensure an exciting outdoor experience and the Ultima Spa provides blissful pampering for those who seek more relaxing pursuits.

My husband and I stayed for a long weekend for Valentine's Day weekend. The grounds and massive log cabins were absolutely stunning and beautiful. A truly impressive lobby and huge fireplace. We played cards and read by the fire, went snowshoeing, had a massage at the spa, went to the pool, and had breakfast and dinner there. While my husband and I had a major personal inconvenience while we were there, the GM and his staff were very helpful and we are grateful for all their help. Staff were very friendly and professional.

Just returned from a wonderful experience at Montebello. We brought our Florida-raised children to experience a real winter & snow and we all had a blast. There are tons of winter activities for everyone and even just relaxing in the spectacular lobby was wonderful. I loved the history of the hotel too. My only gripe was the limited food options, especially in the winter and with children. There seems to be more restaurant options in the summer and those that were open in the winter were more fine dining with no real casual options. If you want a burger, room service is your only option. I believe the Nymark restaurant used to be a more casual pub from what I heard, and I wish that was still an option. The breakfast buffet was great and a good value if you have young children (half price for 6-12 year olds and 5 and under were free). We hope to return in the summer.

The historic significance and grandeur of the central foyer remain impressive and unchanged, and for those two truths we enjoyed staying at the resort. My husband and I were engaged there in 2014 and we brought our 6 year old for the weekend to show her where our story officially began. While the grounds are beautiful, and the staff are very friendly and professional, the property itself is showing its age and deteriorating condition. Our room which was a signature king had a quite uncomfortable mattress, and our daughter found the cot she was provided very stiff. There was mold on the upper tiles in the shower and the television and other accessories in the room were aged (likely 10 plus years). For the price paid for the 2 night stay including 2 meals (brunch and supper) reaching almost 2000$ CDN we were disappointed with the overall value. A beautiful location but we likely won’t spend that kind of money again for a less than ideal accommodation.

Historical hotel with a lot of activities for the whole family. Fantastic lobby ! Rooms are rustic but very comfortable ( It’s the largest log cabin in Canada). Dining room was very good. Breakfast are fantastic!! Pool, hot tub and sauna were great . The exercise room had great equipment. Christmas lights were magical. Sitting in lobby around a great fire and talking with other guests was great!

Highlights The location is undeniably stunning, with an enchanting setting and a variety of activities for everyone. The site has a certain charm that makes it ideal for a relaxing getaway or active vacation. Additionally, the bar service located in the basement was a true highlight. The bartender was incredibly cheerful and attentive, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere. We had an excellent time sitting at the bar, enjoying his great mood and flawless service. Furthermore, the on-site massage service was particularly relaxing, providing a highly enjoyable experience that allowed us to fully unwind. Now, let’s talk about the negative experiences: Unfortunately, the price does not reflect the quality of the overall experience: Exorbitant prices: At $594 per night for a room without breakfast included, it is excessive. The continental buffet at $86 for two was disappointing and very ordinary. Room comfort: For the price, the room lacked charm and maintenance. The window insulation was poor, resulting in significant heat loss. We had booked a "deluxe" room, but it did not match the description or our expectations at all. Poor dinner service: The attitude of our server during dinner was dreadful—unpleasant demeanor, curt tone, and no effort to make the experience enjoyable. We felt neglected compared to other tables with larger groups. Billing errors: We were charged for meals and drinks we never ordered, which further worsened our experience. Poorly maintained facilities: The tennis, deck hockey, and basketball courts inside the dome were barely heated, making the activities unpleasant during the winter. We had to play tennis in coats and beanies, which was far from enjoyable. Conclusion Château Fairmont Montebello is a beautiful place, but it is far too expensive for the quality of services and amenities provided. My partner and I were disappointed with certain aspects of our stay. While the bar service and on-site massage were standout experiences, the rest of the visit did not meet our expectations for a romantic weekend. You can likely find a much better experience for a more reasonable price.
