Reviews for Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa

Overall Great!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

We loved our stay at this hotel. Here are the pros and cons: -We got the partial ocean view with a balcony. It was fabulous. At certain angles in the room, it looked like an ocean view, depending on where you are standing. -There was a pair of binoculars in the room which was great for watching the otters. -Our son also got a little Monterey area bingo game to play for prizes along with his own little bag of goodies which included his own pair of binoculars and magnifying glass. -We ate at Schooners restaurant and the view was great and we were seated right away. -The hot tubs near the fitness center have such a beautiful view and there is also a nearby firepit -The valet staff was very helpful and professional The things that were not so great were: -There is an area that is open to the public below the room and we were often smelling the smell of smoke from cigarettes and weed. -There was also a black hair still in our bathtub when we checked in which was gross. - We ate at Schooners restaurant but the server was not friendly or helpful and the clam chowder was so bad that none of us finished it. It was also a little bit pricey. -The spa staff kept giving us different ages for the age restriction for using the hot tub near the fitness center. -It cost us almost 100 dollars extra to do valet for 2 nights. We were told that the alternative was to do metered street parking and then it was free at night. So we just did it. But, overall, it was good.

Everything about this Hotel is wonderful !

Everything about this Hotel is wonderful: location, rooms, views, restaurants, food, wine selections, staff, management! My wife and I have been coming here regularly for about 15 years, and will continue to do so. Managing Director, Chris Sommers, is a hotelier "par excellence." It is no surprise Chris has been recently chosen as the American Hotel & Lodging Association's “General Manager of the Year," and his humble influence and expectation of excellence is felt throughout. Additionally, his staff love him (we've caught Chris parking guests' cars when the arrival crew was over-loaded!), and this dedication to guests' needs remains constant from top to bottom. Don't miss out experiencing this old-world-highest-class Hotel!

The room was absolutely amazing, right on the ocean. The view was fantastic as was the entire property. The staff were all very kind and friendly. We ate at schooners which was fantastic our room was comfortable, peaceful and very quiet. I highly recommend the Monterey Plaza . Close to everything Monterey and Pebble Beach have to offer. We would definitely stay again. Anne and Tom Idaho

The Monterey Plaza hotel is a beautiful facility with excellent service staff and hospitality. All of the staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful, my room was clean, the spa services were relaxing and the food was delicious. I was able to get up every morning and watch the sunrise in the plaza and it was breathtaking. I loved my stay here and I am looking forward to coming back soon.
