Far from any 5 star standard, worn out rooms, dirty carpets and difficult to reach reception, room and concierge service. Throughout the hotel, especially in the spa area but also in the rooms, odor from the drains or fecal odor. Egg dishes at breakfast partly inedible, sparse supply of bread and fresh fruit.

The Best Hotel in Montevideo. The 1921 Restaurants in the hotel is unbelievable. The Chef an Argentine Japanese , Maximilian Matsumoto and he’s dishes are incredible out of this world . I’m an expert in baby lamb and this is the best rack of baby lamb I ever had. Please ask Pablo and Guillermo if they can get you a polenta with mushrooms as a side dish for the baby lamb. And ask for the chocolate mouse mousse this is real mousse coverd by dark chocolate Dessert.

Beautiful location overlooking the beach with nearby shops and restaurants. Nice bar and restaurant in Sofitel as well. The staff throughout was also super friendly and helpful, notably Sebastian, Aline, y Cesar. I hope to be able to come again.

The hotel looks great inside and out, no complaints there, the building is amazing. The area it's in is also really nice with lots of great restaurants and fun little shops while being right on the beach. The rooms are satisfactory, the beds are good and it's all quiet and clean. Our sink drain was blocked though and the bathroom had quite a noticeable drain smell. The dinner at the hotel is high quality with an interesting menu and very informed waiters. Would recommend. My main critique unfortunately is with the service. It's nowhere near what you would expect from a five star hotel. You always feel like your imposing or having to seek someone out to ask for help. A great many of the staff don't seem to realize they work at a hotel never mind a five star one. That was really the most disappointing part of the stay.

Nothing to improve here. Beautiful, historic property. Our room was lovely, the beds super comfortable. Very quiet. Terrific neighborhood behind the hotel with lots of restaurants and boutiques. Breakfast (not included) was very good and the best poached eggs I’ve ever had. Loved it. 😊
