Situated in an historic 1882 building, Auberge du Vieux-Port boasts an illustrious past intrinsically linked to that of modern-day Montreal. Enjoying a close proximity to the St. Lawrence River, this former warehouse lay abandoned until 1995 when it was acquired and transformed into the jewel it is today. Now, this restored Old Montreal landmark offers an optimal location, refined accommodations and prize-winning French cuisine at the intimate Les Remparts.

We wanted to get away for 5 nights and wanted to go where there was snow and people spoke French. So we chose Montreal. The Auberge du vieux port has so much character, the staff is amazing and bend over backwards, and the main level common areas were a delight to sit and enjoy a drink in front of the fireplace. The restaurant next door is fabulous and we highly recommend (make a reservation). The location in the old town of Montreal is lovely with lots of restaurants, shops and the amazing cathedral within walking distance.

This hotel is an absolute gem! We stayed here with our teenage son. The room with the king size bed easily fit an extra cot and both were very comfortable, leaving plenty of room still. The service here is exceptional! Especially Alex and Louise. But really everybody has been incredibly kind and helpful. Wonderful suggestions of places to eat and things to do in the city. The rooms are spotlessly clean with so much character. Shower is wonderful. The lobby is a beautiful cozy spot to sit and read or talk and the restaurant next-door is a perfect French bistro also with exceptional service. We would absolutely come back here again!

A wonderful small hotel in a beautifully converted building. Friendly, courteous, helpful staff at front desk and restaurants. Entrance accessibility front & back is limiting, narrow stairs w/o ramps but elevator inside to all floors.

I have never written a review for anything online but I am spending the time to do it now. I came with my wife for a few nights. The hotel is in Old Montreal, which is really something to experience. This hotel amplifies that. The rooms have a French charm. They are rustic but modern in all the ways you need - tv, Nespresso. The hotel itself is like something out of France. But I am writing this because of the customer service. We had an issue with the room on the first night. We raised it with the hotel and they provided appropriate comps. That is expected. But then, the supervisor Thomas brought coffee and wine!!! I asked for a charger from the valet parked car and the valet said he would get it and bring it to the room! Meanwhile, Thomas made a point to ask each day how we were doing. I have never seen customer service like this. I honestly felt like royalty. I guess this is what customer service should be. I have just never seen it and been staying in hotels for many years. An incredible experience. Valet is pricey but worth it. The gym at the hotel nearby is very nice. Overall, probably the best hotel experience I have ever had. Kudos to Thomas and the entire team.

Would stay here again, as we have stayed here in the past. Wonderfully welcoming, comfortable, and cheerful, the attentive associates at Du Vieux Port made sure our four days with them were perfect. They helped us when we need to figure out how to use the fireplace in our room (a cozy space--I would choose a larger room with a better view, one of the river, next time) and when our room-fridge seemed not to be as cool as we'd hope. (Just realizing I sound like Goldilocks....) Great linens, pillows, BIG bathroom and tub, nicely sized closet with big umbrellas (which we needed and for which we were grateful). Good hot coffee available in the lovely lobby area. Easy to park with the valet; we never waited long for our car. Excellent and would recommend highly.

In November, 2004, we stayed in Montreal at the Auberge du Vieux Port in Old Montreal. The inn is right on the St. Lawrence in a beautifully restored building in a charming section of the city. Staff were accommodating, friendly and informative in helping us make dining and sightseeing plans. We would highly recommend a visit to the Auberge du Vieux Port!
