Old property which has dated accommodations. The door men if ever at their post, do nothing to help people with bags or even provide a welcome. Breakfast is absolutely the worst ever consumed, limited selection, bland in taste and even eggs were prepared incorrectly. (Go elsewhere if you have to stay here)1 star would be generous. Upon mention of the terrible food and experience, the person on property did nothing to course correct, just said “thanks”. Very disappointed as this doesn’t live up to anything luxe, poorly managed and recommend the W up the street. Cannot recommend and avoid if you like proper service, good accommodation and food.

Great hotel, great location in Old Montreal and extremely helpful guest service team members. Stayed three nights with my wife to enjoy a show and have memorable meals in the great city of Montreal and this hotel did not disappoint. One of the early boutique hotel, it offered something stylish, with comfortable bed and very quiet rooms. The location is relaxed, allows you to walk everywhere in Old Montreal and is about a 20 min walk to downtown commercial/shopping area. I would return

Gorgeous, clean hotel with comfortable beds, nice in room coffee and great customer service. Beautiful lobby and fantastic restaurant. Perfect location for dining, shopping and site seeing. Stayed twice to date… will definitely be back.

I stayed in the St. Paul Hotel for five nights on business, my initial booking was incorrectly processed and took some effort to get right which was somewhat surprising but was solved eventually. On checking in the front desk deducted €238 from my credit card as a guarantee, in my experience most hotels will take a record of a credit card without making a deduction. On checking out my card was refunded but when I checked my account it was only refunded €226 this may be due to an exchange rate fluctuation over the five days or it may be foreign transaction banking charges, but I don't actually know . In addition my card was charged €19 for no apparent reason and on enquiry this was refunded with no explanation. This is an area which requires attention and I got the impression that there were a lot of inexperienced staff undergoing training. The room was very comfortable and adequately sized the only minor gripes being the air conditioning which was quite loud, cycled on and off and could not be regulated. The breakfast buffet was basic and functional apart from the coffee which was served by waiting staff. This is always a bad idea and self service tea and coffee at breakfast is essential, there were tea bags available but presumably one would have to ask for water. On the first morning I was asked if I wanted an omelette which I availed of, bizarrely this offer was not made again and there was no menu stating breakfast choices. On one morning I availed of breakfast one hour before the buffet was due to close, the dining room was very quiet and I had to excuse myself to make my way around two staff members who were busily and efficienly cleaning the cabinets under the buffet. It was also quite odd that although breakfast was included in my room rate and this was recorded at the breakfast reception, I was still required to sign a docket stating zero charge. This is just creating unnecessary work for staff. In my view none of these minor problems are the fault of the staff but are most likely due to an inadequacy in training/management. I found every single staff member to be completely charming, friendly and courteous but unfortunately a collection of minor faults lends an unprofessional air to the hotel. This is a lovely hotel and with a little attention to detail it could be really excellent.

Super location next to Old Montreal and 400 meters from metro. Staff is very friendly. Large rooms and bathrooms, with great shower. Highly recommended. Didn't eat there. Lots of good restaurants within easy walking distance. Would stay again.
