I received an email before our stay advising that I was upgraded to the Gold Lounge and for me to check in on the 21st floor. I did that but when I arrived to the 21st floor I was made to feel like garbage by the guy working the desk. He told me and my colleague that we do not belong there and that we need to check in downstairs. We explained and showed him our emails and he agreed to check us in but he explained we are NOT allowed in gold lounge. We tried to escalate the issue but it seemed that no one in the hotel was willing to help. We spoke with the manager and he tried to get us to pay for an upgraded room as he stated that the email for the upgrade was sent to us by accident and that we were not supposed to be upgraded. The staff at the hotel were extremely rude and made us feel like scum. My colleague and I travel for work regularly and we always stay at fairmont hotels but I don’t think we will ever stay at the Montreal fairmont again due to the poor service and rude staff. I have never felt so degraded in my life.

We had a lovely stay with no issues. No signs of a strike (10/18/24) so recent reviews need not scare you off. Views are great staff is helpful. Especially the girl at the pool. She was accommodating for me and my daughter, I tried to thank her but couldn’t find her to see her name tag to shout out on here. Amenities are fine, decor is fine, and room was adequate (small, but that’s common in bigger cities). Only minus a star for no benefits at all booking through Amex fine hotels. Huge difference than the Fairmont chateau Frontenac I’m staying in now that gave room upgrade, hotel credit, and late checkout. Even detailed the benefits to us in a letter. This was also probably effected from the recent strike. But that’s a large portion of where/why I book my hotels. The beds were not the comfiest would be the only complaint but that’s hit or miss at hotels as well. Would recommend staying here as the tiled indoor pool is gorgeous and the location is unbeatable if traveling with luggage with via rail to other parts of Canada. Will repeat when taking more trains from Montréal.

We checked in the second October 2024. The strike was still on. The room was very nice, but when after a long day of traveling, the hotel restaurants were closed! Across the bridge in the terminal we were able to find a pizza restaurant and got a bite. I returned to room and drank some alcohol from the room refrigerator. No problem, except when received the bill! Come on, $25.00 + for 2 oz of booze. Give me a break! At least, there should have been a discounted room price and a definite lowering of room booze.

Subject: Complaint Regarding Unpleasant Stay at Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, Montreal Dear Fairmont Customer Service, I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the experience my fiancée and I had during our stay at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth in Montreal from July 26th to July 28th. Unfortunately, the visit fell far short of the standards we expected from a Fairmont property. Upon arrival, we were greeted by individuals whose roles were unclear, as they were dressed in casual sportswear and tank tops, making it difficult to determine if they were hotel staff. Furthermore, we were denied access to hotel amenities, including the restaurants and pool, which significantly impacted our stay. Adding to the frustration, we were unable to rest due to constant noise from protests and large crowds outside the hotel, making it extremely difficult to enter or leave the premises. This chaos ultimately prevented us from securing a taxi to the airport, further complicating our departure. We chose this hotel expecting a high-quality experience that aligns with Fairmont's reputation. However, we were left not only disappointed but also inconvenienced and distressed. Despite all these issues, the hotel management has yet to reach out or take any action to address our concerns and provide a meaningful solution for the situation. We sincerely hope that Fairmont will consider this matter and find an appropriate way to repair the inconvenience and discomfort we faced during our stay, ensuring that our next experience at a Fairmont property meets the brand’s standards. Kind regards, Felipe Zanotto Peres

I enjoyed three nights at the Queen Elizabeth in May 2024 and could not have been more pleased, with just a few exceptions. Let's start with the positive first. Every staff person I encountered was extraordinarily friendly, helpful, and kind. The Signature amenities were explained to me without my having to ask. I was greeted by name almost without exception and the person who cleaned my room left me the nicest note thanking me for a tip I'd left. It's those little things that make such a difference.
Everything about the property has been recently updated and it looks great. The fitness center is especially modern and well-equipped. The key cards are wooden rather than plastic -- another small detail that made my stay more memorable. The cocktail bar is hopping with a DJ and inventive cocktails - worth the price in opinion. In terms of location, you couldn't ask for anything better. Just steps away from the main shopping and entertainment areas, metro stations, and railway.
Now a few gripes. I booked a 420 sq ft. Deluxe Room which was supposed to have a view. I was upgraded to a Jr. Suite of the same size, but without a view and felt small. But for a family, it would be perfect because the two rooms are separate and the living area has a powder room. But the view... any room that is on the back side of the hotel looks out over the rooftops of office buildings and nothing more. Be sure to request a room with a view of the Cathedral or the plaza. And... the bathroom was tiny! I mean, really tiny.
The restaurant's buffet breakfast was as expected. Aren't all buffets the same no matter where you are? I ate dinner there the first night and it was excellent, but I never returned because the menu was so limited. Not even a salad! Fortunately, the room service menu offered a little more variety.
Final note: for spa lovers, the Queen Elizabeth has what I consider treatment rooms, not a spa. There is no relaxation room, hydrotherapy circuit, etc. However, the fitness center has a nice pool and Jacuzzi and the large changing rooms have single-sex saunas. I'd rate this property and my experience a 4-1/2 and would definitely stay again.

My whole family loved our stay at the Queen Elizabeth. It is a perfect location especially after taking the train from Quebec to Montreal. Our dinner at The Beaver Club was the highlight of my trip to Canada. It is quite rare when you dine in a restaurant that has lovely ambiance, exemplary service, and food which makes your taste buds jump for joy.

I recently visited Montreal. My stay at the Queen Elizabeth was such a delightful experience I will not soon forget. I highly recommend this hotel. The staff is out of this world, they really make you feel like you are important, like someone very special, they seem to go out of their way to help you. A special thanks to Viviane who works at the front desk, she was so helpful and thoughtful, a real gem. I also would like to thank César who was a great help. They are top of the line. By the way, the food and service at The Beaver Club is excellent.
