Dusit Thani Maldives

There are various ways to experience the Maldives. You can spend little by choosing guesthouses or boat cruises but, if you have the economic possibility to do so, it is worth at least once to experience a holiday at the Dusit Thani. Our beach villa with pool and outdoor Maldivian bathroom had all the comforts you could wish for (even a Bose system to listen to high quality music). I have always wondered what use a mini pool is in the Maldives where there is a splendid sea. Nothing could be more wrong. Relaxing in the non-salty water of the pool after snorkeling is truly pleasant. On the island, luxury is there but it is not blatant. You arrive by seaplane, you go around by bike and you dress informally. All the staff you meet smile at you and after a while it comes naturally to us too when you meet someone. Guests have a personal butler who is available in real time for their every request. Our butler Mona Suleyman, always kind and helpful, helped us spend a fantastic week. Mona also organized something special to celebrate my birthday. Our thanks also go to the staff at the Dive Center and in particular to Diana for the precious advice on where to snorkel and for her in-depth knowledge of marine biology. At Dusit Thani there are 3 à la carte restaurants (one of which is vegan) and 1 buffet restaurant. We tried them all and our favorite is the Sea Grill where we also found an exceptional waiter whose name I unfortunately don't remember. The food is also good at the Thai restaurant but we don't like sauces too much and prefer healthier cuisine. At Dusit Thani we found everything we needed to spend a fabulous week. The only criticism (which I also made to the manager of the facility) is that the excursions (not the dives) are too expensive in my opinion so we had to give them up. Spending a lot of money can only make sense for an exceptional experience like swimming with manta rays in the season from May to October.

There are all kinds of restaurants on the island, including Western restaurants, Thai restaurants and buffets. The scenery is very beautiful. There are various discounts. I experienced the Thai massage on the island, which was very authentic. The butler, Ajaa, is very patient and enthusiastic.

Thanks to the restaurant stuff, wonderful people - Shahina and Majeed, you guys are great. The island is fabulous at night. Real jungles. Wonderful spa salon, masseur Shampu, she is a professional master. I had backache for half of the year, after sessions with Shampu the pain has gone. Wonderful underwater world, turtles, different fish. There are everything good on this island. We’ll be back!

It was the best holiday. Great services, food and beach. We really enjoyed our stay. The villas with a pool in the back have the best beach, calm, no waves. For snorcheling is better book the villa with swimming pool in the front. There are beautiful corals in that part of island.
