About the Hotel

A beacon of refinement in a storied European city, The Charles Hotel Munich is a taste of upscale luxury in Munich. Established in 2007 and built by architect Christian Sattler on the site of a former university library, this tasteful hotel is part of the new Lenbach Gardens. The walls within display a large collection of original paintings by the celebrated Franz von Lenbach, a 19th-century German artist, blended dynamically with modern elements and Art Deco-inspired shapes. Individual character and charm grace each of The Charles Hotel's 160 rooms and suites, many of which offer views of the city or surrounding gardens. Among the most spacious in the city, the guest abodes here are outfitted with top-of-the-line features like Bavarian limestone finishes, towering picture windows, French balconies, flat-screen televisions, and wireless internet access. A further welcome in the midst of a lively city, The Charles SPA offers an indoor pool, heated mosaic lounge chairs, a Finnish sauna and aromatherapy steam bath, and a fully equipped TechnoGym fitness center - not to mention the menu of invigorating and relaxing treatments. Start with a Surrender Massage and then try the Detox Body Ritual to refresh and renew like never before. This is your time, at The Charles Hotel.

Reviews for The Charles Hotel Munich

Lovely Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We stayed here for one overnight in Munich. We really liked this hotel. The service was excellent and the rooms well equipped. I especially liked the in room Nespresso machine. We loved the welcome glass of champagne and the chocolate covered strawberries. Breakfast was well appointed but hubby didn't like the omelette that he ordered. He thought it dry and tasteless.

Our Second Time in Munich and at the Charles Hotel... Delightful!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Our second time in Munich and the Charles!! We just love it. Spent so much time in the pool, sauna and the bar! We had adjoining rooms and we had no complaints. Room service ice cream was a favorite of the teens. We especially love the location here. Easy to walk to everything and especially the park across the street! We will be back.

Bad experience at this Munich Rocco Forte Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

At check-in we were 'welcomed' by the most unfriendly impolite lady. She was assisted by an intern and it was really very rude of her how she belittled him constantly and blaming him for every mistake she made herself (e.g. giving us 2 times the wrong room key). We booked a renovated Deluxe Room with Panoramic View on upper floor. We received a dirty, bad smelling old ugly room located at the lower floor which the rude lady called 'an upgrade with more space'. No restaurant available because the restaurant is 'under construction'. Dinner possible as the put some tables near the reception next to the Bar which is cold in every way. And this they call a 5 star hotel, member of Leading Hotels of the World?

Elegance and Ease in the Heart of Munich!

Charles Hotel is a fantastic place to stay in Munich if you're looking for a centrally located 5-star experience. It's conveniently close to shops and the railway station, with a beautiful park right in front. Highly recommended for anyone seeking luxury in the heart of Munich!

Weekend at Munich

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

When I travel to Munich, this hotel is one of my favourites. The location is the most crucial aspect of all. The central rail station is just a short distance away, which reduces travel stress and saves time. Looking out of the window, I find the hotel to be extremely visually beautiful because it faces the Old Botanical Garden. This time, Franziska Verdorfer welcomed me and checked me in at around 3:00 p.m. She was quite nice and courteous during the whole process, and I sincerely appreciate that. Along with facilitating a seamless check-in, she provided a thorough overview of all the important Munich attractions. She then led me to the restaurant and bar called Sophia's. She showed me around the Deluxe room and went over everything with me, including how to open the hot water lock on the bathtub. Givlia was gracious enough to provide explanations and food recommendations while we were at the restaurant. Their brunch is visually stunning. It tastes much better than it appears. Sebastian did a terrific job later on showing me the spa, ballrooms, and meeting rooms. I had an excellent time at The Charles Hotel overall, and I plan to return soon to revisit with my loved ones.
