A beacon of refinement in a storied European city, The Charles Hotel Munich is a taste of upscale luxury in Munich. Established in 2007 and built by architect Christian Sattler on the site of a former university library, this tasteful hotel is part of the new Lenbach Gardens. The walls within display a large collection of original paintings by the celebrated Franz von Lenbach, a 19th-century German artist, blended dynamically with modern elements and Art Deco-inspired shapes. Individual character and charm grace each of The Charles Hotel's 160 rooms and suites, many of which offer views of the city or surrounding gardens. Among the most spacious in the city, the guest abodes here are outfitted with top-of-the-line features like Bavarian limestone finishes, towering picture windows, French balconies, flat-screen televisions, and wireless internet access. A further welcome in the midst of a lively city, The Charles SPA offers an indoor pool, heated mosaic lounge chairs, a Finnish sauna and aromatherapy steam bath, and a fully equipped TechnoGym fitness center - not to mention the menu of invigorating and relaxing treatments. Start with a Surrender Massage and then try the Detox Body Ritual to refresh and renew like never before. This is your time, at The Charles Hotel.

My wife and myself just returned from a 3nights stay at The Charles Hotel in Munich. We both agree, that this stay exceeded our expectations. We stayed in a Deluxe Park View room on the 07th floor and the views from the room were amazing. ( see sunrise picture ). The room was spacious, it was impeccably clean and equipped with the latest technology. We loved the bathroom amenities – super cool fragrances. The bed was super comfortable. The breakfast buffet offered a huge spread and the quality of products used was of very high quality. We loved the fresh berry smoothie. One of the highlights of our stay was the daily visit to the pool, spa area, which offered a perfect way to unwind after a day of sightseeing and shopping in Munich. The hotels is very centrally located and the major tourist sights and shopping areas are a casual 10 mins walk from the hotel. All the staff we interacted with were very polite, knowledgeable and they addressed us by name, which made us feel very special. We highly recommend The Charles Hotel in Munich and are planning to return next year. Kudos to the General Manager Mr. Steinmeier and his team. Well done !!

This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. Everything, from the room to the staff, was top-notch. We literally cannot think of anything that can be improved upon. When we return to Munich, this will be the only hotel we will even consider now!

We stayed here for one overnight in Munich. We really liked this hotel. The service was excellent and the rooms well equipped. I especially liked the in room Nespresso machine. We loved the welcome glass of champagne and the chocolate covered strawberries. Breakfast was well appointed but hubby didn't like the omelette that he ordered. He thought it dry and tasteless.

Our second time in Munich and the Charles!! We just love it. Spent so much time in the pool, sauna and the bar! We had adjoining rooms and we had no complaints. Room service ice cream was a favorite of the teens. We especially love the location here. Easy to walk to everything and especially the park across the street! We will be back.

At check-in we were 'welcomed' by the most unfriendly impolite lady. She was assisted by an intern and it was really very rude of her how she belittled him constantly and blaming him for every mistake she made herself (e.g. giving us 2 times the wrong room key). We booked a renovated Deluxe Room with Panoramic View on upper floor. We received a dirty, bad smelling old ugly room located at the lower floor which the rude lady called 'an upgrade with more space'. No restaurant available because the restaurant is 'under construction'. Dinner possible as the put some tables near the reception next to the Bar which is cold in every way. And this they call a 5 star hotel, member of Leading Hotels of the World?
