Beautiful location - a real treat for animal lovers

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We stayed here for one night on safari as a couple. When we arrived we were given welcome drinks and a briefing of the resort before being taken to our room. We had 3 meals here and all were lovely - all served as buffet. During the day there were zebras, monkeys and other animals roaming calmly, security kept a close eye that nobody disturbed them. It was amazing to be so close to them. At one point we heard a hippo and an amazing guard took us down to see it and then took us on a walk of the areas to try and show us some other animals - he was so friendly and honestly made our day. At night security walked us to the restaurant as they want to ensure guests don’t get too close to the hippo’s, but they also pointed out animals along the way. The room was clean, had good wifi and a mosquito net. We were told to give the showers a few minutes to warm up as it used solar panels but it was always warm when we used it. I would definitely recommend this hotel if I had friends staying in the area - the wonderful staff, particularly the day guard made the stay so worth it.

Great Stay!

Every person working at this establishment is so kind, friendly, and helpful. I loved the afternoon tea and chat with the servers. The grounds are peaceful and relaxing, rooms comfortable, and the food was filling and warm. It was an absolutely pleasure staying here. The hippos grazing on the lawn are just an added bonus!!

Only plus, it's lakeside!

We stayed for 3 nights from 25th Dec to 28th Dec and paid double the regular room rate for 3 nights cz it was during Christmas, only to be allotted a room we did not book which had a horrible smelly bathroom that we had to request for a room freshener, the basin was chipped, the shower was rusted and not working properly, dirty bathtub you can't use. It seems like the bathrooms were 30 years old. We payed a $100 extra for premium room but did not get a premium room for 25th night but only after half the guests checkout on 26th, was our room changed. The premium rooms are newer and slightly bigger for which we paid extra. However, the quality of rooms and the wood used is pretty bad. The door has a gap on the top (room 1442), and lizards kept creeping inside the room. even the bathroom ceiling wasn't properly done and one could see lizards and insects creeping in. Such mediocre quality of rooms and bathrooms, wonder how guests have rated anything more than 3/5 to this property Muthu Lake Naivasha when it doesn't deserve more than 2 points. The 2 points I have allotted, 1 for the lake-views & hippos/zebras grazing while you're having meals or walking around in the night and 1 for the buffet which was good even for a vegetarian like me. plenty of options and tasty. It also needs to buck up on their room service too where towels were missing all days after the room was cleaned, Shower gel was missing. and they would take an hour or repeated reminders for providing basics. NO WAY you can call this property more than a 3* according to international standards. We specially went for Christmas and paid double but were quite disappointed with the room allotment and service. particularly of the front desk staff!

Great place, great staff and amazing location. Conveniently placed by the lake, easy access to Crescent Islands. You can easily spots the hippos too, that was a great experience. Special thank you to Alfred who has been great with us during the whole stay!

The Place To Stay At Lake Naivasha

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 months ago

This was our second stay, having been here 5 years ago, and was a stopover between game parks. The accommodations are very colonial and do show a bit of wear but are comfortable. If you are familiar with other Muthu properties this is similar. The staff is friendly and very professional. The meals are tasty and slant towards Indian cuisine. You can see wildlife outside your bungalow door, especially hippos. If you do a boat tour of Crescent Island you can be left off on the grounds. The pool looks very nice, though we didn't have an opportunity to use it. We would recommend if you are coming to Lake Naivasha.
