Grand Reserve at The Meritage

Firstly, I originally reserved a standard king room for about 500 a night. The reservation desk convinced me to upgrade to a "view overlooking the vinyards", essentially doubling the cost of my room. When I checked in, i was put into room 266 which has a window that is completely covered by a crepe myrtle tree. Upon notifying the desk they move to me to the top floor, room 366. While an improvement over the tree, it is a view of a rocky hill, the vinyard is at the top of the hill. There was no overlooking anything. Definitely not worth a 500/night increase. Secondly, I paid for a couple upgrades, a movie noght package and a birthday cupcake package to surprise my wife for her birthday. I had to request them be delivered to my room 3 times before they finally showed up (6 hrs later, after we brushed our teeth before bed). Ruined the surprise.

Great customer service! Stopped in for a drink at the bar while we waited for some friends. Paul Medina was a gem and my Old Fashioned was top notch. Had the burger on the bar menu. The bar staff was great about checking in the order and it came out hot.

Judy from the Commons bar was the best! Quick service. Very friendly!! Helpful with drink recommendations and knowledgeable about the entire resort. We would definitely come back to the Commons bar! Great drinks and snacks. Thanks again Judy!

Mark was an excellent masseuse. He really took the time to focus on the areas I mentioned were particularly troublesome. Perfect pressure. Just wish it was longer. The women’s area and locker room were beautiful, but the exhaust system was extremely noisy. It was a dull thrumming that made it hard to enjoy the space. Not a quiet sanctuary that I was hoping for. I probably won’t return because of this. Of note my watch measured the decibels up to 109 (I know this is not particularly accurate but still, I could feel the pounding in my head after 30min in the room and no voices in the mix).
