Escape to a lesser-known and enigmatic side of the city while remaining right at its heart from our luxury hotel in New Orleans. Hotel de la Poste - French Quarter is the newest edition to the Renaissance brand. Our accommodations blend jewel-toned bayou inspirations and the Quarter's own musical and lively charms to create cozy, quiet and distinct nooks tucked away from nonstop hustle and bustle outside. Each visual element in our guest rooms tells a story-from Sazerac orange-tinted accents to murals recalling Cypress trees in the Mississippi Delta - while comfortable beds, luxury bath products and a sense of deep comfort round out your stay.

Nice staff, good location, nice bar, and restaurant. Room was janky and just kind of gross (paint on the bathroom floor was peeling and stuck to feet, shoes, floor, bed - everywhere). Some of the lights didn’t work. Shower water backed up if you didn’t get out within a few minutes. Board under the sink popped off when I was blow drying my hair revealed some pretty nasty looking pipes. Room advertised a mini bar which was literally a bag of Doritos, bag of nuts and two waters, also advertised robes - there were none. Room service and restaurant shut down pretty early. Stayed three nights and water was never restocked. Would not stay again. $400-500 per night for what felt like an under $200 night motel.

First time in New Orleans and we wanted a hotel in the French Quarter where we could walk to most everything on our list of things to do. This hotel, formerly being a W, seemed to fit the bill and was in the Marriott family. We booked directly through Bonvoy, a Premier King room. The reservation showed it was a Premier King, but when we opened the door it was a standard Double Queen. We went back to the front desk to ask what was up and the gentleman working told us that our room (315) was in the system as a Premier King- but obviously that was wrong as there were clearly, two queen beds there instead of a single king. He checked for any other rooms with a king bed, but unfortunately everything was booked. To his credit- he was a gentleman and very sympathetic. We appreciated that. So we were stuck with the queens- we'll deal. The room smelled of mildew as soon as you opened the door. There was a mini-bar but it was completely empty. There was nothing in the room aside from the coffee maker and a single cup, and a cocktail shaker and ice bucket. No welcome guide, no signage of any kind, nothing. The bathroom door is a sliding barn door with fairly wide gaps between the door and the wall. Zero toiletries except for the large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, and lotion. The shower head is of the "rainfall" variety, but it's mounted so close to the wall, you can't stand under it. There's no additional shower wand either. I'm guessing the tile had recently been redone because there was what appeared at first to look like black spots of mold on the inside of the shower, but it was actually from the tile or the grout when it was installed and no one bothered to clean up the bottom the of shower stall. We were there for 3 nights, since we arrived late the first night and went right to sleep, there was no need for our room to be serviced the next day. So we left the sign on the door and had no issues. The next day, we were planning to be out all day and left the sign off the door, so our room could be cleaned and our towels changed out. We left around 9am and came back about 230pm to drop some things off and go back out, at that time- the room still hadn't been cleaned, but they were at the room next to ours. Great- when we get back in a few hours the room will be cleaned and we can shower and relax. We returned around 5pm and our room had not been cleaned. We went down to the front desk and asked for a new set of towels and just left the old ones in the corner of the room. That said, it wasn't all bad. All the employees we spoke with were all great, very friendly and seemed to genuinely care and were helpful. The beds in the room were very comfortable and this hotel had the best pillow selection I've used in a very long time. The location is excellent- it's close to everything but far enough from the crazy of Bourbon Street. We never heard any noise at night. Overall, it just wasn't a very pleasant experience, which isn't what you want when you're vacationing and trying to relax- or really any other time for that matter. This was previously a W hotel, and can understand why it's been downgraded. It feels like the rebranding has been very rushed, as there are many, many references to W all over the hotel or no references to the new hotel, i.e. the room keys were just plain white cards with no writing or logo or design at all. It was like someone forgot to order new key cards and they're stuck using generic until they get the new ones. You can't check out or even view your bill on the tv in the room. It's like, they haven't gotten that far in the rebranding. Anyways, I think you get the idea.

It’s a nicely located hotel in the French Quarter of New Orleans. The pics on the website with regard to the suites are a little deceptive if you’re on the second floor. We also had to seek out housekeeping to get clean towels and tidy after being skipped the first two days. People were nice. I just don’t feel the extra we paid for our room was worth it. Bar was nice, restaurant was nice.

During the recent snowstorm, my colleagues and I had lunch in the restaurant at the Hotel de la Poste. We were looking for a place with traditional New Orleans southern food selections, and they sure did not disappoint. Our server, "Katonya," was exceptional. She was so kind and gracious. She catered to our every need. She overheard my colleagues and I discussing how delicious Muffuletta sandwiches were and that they were a "must try." Unfortunately, this sandwich was not on the menu. Understanding that our options were limited during the storm as many of the food establishments were closed, Katonya wanted to ensure that our wishes were granted. Our meal was fantastic, but to make it even more special, Chef "Ben" made us our own Muffuletta sandwiches. Of course, our meal would not have been complete without the delicious beignets that were crispy and fresh right out of the oven. Chef Ben even came out to ask us how we liked the sandwiches! Our experience at the Hotel de la Poste restaurant was exceptional and certainly the highlight of our trip. Thank you for providing us with the most incredible Southern Hospitality anyone could ever experience. We will be back in the future!

Stuck in New Orleans due to snow and ice and starving we were fortunate enough to stumble here for lunch. Our super gracious waitress Katonya was so welcoming and wonderful and kudos to Chef Ben for surprising us with muffaletta sandwiches which we were so eager to have. Cannot say enough about how much this meant to our crew and cannot recommend this place enough!
