New Orleans has been the inspiring source of a mélange of cuisines, the American art form of jazz, and a proud mix of heritages. In the heart of it all, on fashionable Saint Charles Avenue, The Lafayette Hotel is an historic landmark hotel restored to its former splendor. The unique culture that is New Orleans can be found right out the front door, or sample gourment cuisine with an emphasis on prime beef and contemporary creole at Anatole, a new, full service restaurant and bar at The Lafayette.

Stayed here for the Eras tour. All of the staff were so friendly and welcoming and we even got a welcome bag with friendship bracelets. Room was clean and the hotel is within walking distance to so much. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a hotel in New Orleans.

We stayed at this hotel on August 16th and 17th. The shower faucet broke and we were not able to use the shower . The manager told us she could not give us another room and the only option was to shower with a bucket. We requested for a reimbursement and they agreed to give a 50% credit back which we have not received yet.

I stayed at The Lafayette for a couple of nights this week. I was a bit concerned by some of the recent reviews but was pleased to find they honored my prepaid booking, even though I booked through Wyndham and the hotel is no longer part of them. Check in was a little chaotic and their key card making machine was broken so the poor receptionist was having to go back and forth to let us all into our rooms. My 2nd floor room was spotlessly clean and well decorated. The bed was OK, though a little uncomfortable and other amenities were lacking- only a very old coffee machine, for example, with one bag of coffee provided. The ensuite was fine with decent toiletries offered. I think the real drawback of this hotel is that it's just rooms- no restaurant, bar, fitness etc are available despite, according to locals I spoke to, once having had one of the best restaurants in NOLA. The receptionist mentioned that LuxUrban had sold the hotel and they were transitioning at the moment, so I really hope that the new owners give this place the TLC it needs to become the grand hotel it once was again.

I am also reporting a refund never received. Do not stay at this establishment! Luckily I made a claim against my credit card; the credit card company reversed the charges, and the hotel did not dispute. Having said that, I booked directly with the hotel when it was still a Wyndham. If you booked with a third party such as Priceline or Booking, this may not be as easy. Good luck everyone; it’s very sad that busy, hard working people have to go through this, and you think you’re protected by a cancellation policy, and you’re not.

I booked a room with this hotel in November '2023 for a stay in early May of this year. I had a cancellation window up until the day before the stay. I cancelled within the required timeframe and have yet to see a refund within the promised 30 day window. We're currently well past 60 days. I have called and emailed the hotel multiple times over the last month giving them an opportunity to handle this amicably. Ive been told multiple times its because the hotel changed hands and they need to get with the group "in the other system" to verify my reservation and they will get back to me. No one ever gets back to me. I have to contact them. I have sent the email confirmation and cancellation to them from Priceline as proof that I was booked and cancelled. No one responds. I had held up on writing a review like this until I saw there are others experiencing the same situation at all the other LuxUrban properties and some of them have been waiting several months. That got my attention and has me very concerned. I've never been one to leave nitpicky reviews. Bad reviews for stained carpet in a hotel hallway aren't that big of deal to me. Continuing to accept reservations and operating a business in bad faith while holding or simply not refunding money is something else altogether. And while I haven't given up on getting a refund, after digging in to find more about the hotel chain, Im not so sure I'll ever see it. Ive done a little investigating... Google LuxUrban and their old name SoBe NY and look at reviews from other cities. O Hotel Los Angeles and The Variety Miami for example. There are customers with the same refund issue. According to other reviews I have found they have an F with the better business bureau and apparently had to rebrand due to a bad reputation. They posted a $40 million dollar loss back in April of this year. I tried to post the link as a source for that info but I think TA thought it was promotional content and rejected the review but feel free to Google the information. Wyndham dropped them from their branding back in May of this year. From the sound of things, you'd probably be better off staying in your car than to give this hotelier any money. I wish I knew that a few months ago. Their website list contact information for the company and other hotel locations. I would suggest those looking for a refund try contacting them directly to let them know of the problem you're having. And possibly warning other potential guest at their other hotels... on EVERY hotel review site you can find until you are satisfied with what you see. Ultimately you may not get your refund but you can try to make sure no one else has this problem with LuxUrban. That will be my goal for the foreseeable future or until I receive my refund.
