Its just about average for a Manhattan mid-upper end hotel, but a stretch to rate it 5 star (even though its not alone in manhattan for deserving such a comment). Pluses:large functional suites, Minuses: lack of a lobby/seating area, long check in process Overall, it is more of a pay as you go product rather than an experience. Not such a bad choice based on what the price point is, but otherwise not great. Meh category.

We booked online and there was a bit of a mixup as soon as we tried to check in. However, Mark, one of the managers made it all right and more than accommodated us. We were here for 2 nights as a short stay during our trek from Los Angeles to India, and our stay was very comfortable. The rooms were large and accommodated 3 of us with a rollaway bed. The gym was solid and the location is great. Due to a flight delay, we ended up staying another night. We also stayed here for one more night on the way home from India. Samrat, one of the other managers, seamlessly helped us sort out all of the folios since I needed a separate one due to the flight delay. The staff is very accommodating and helpful. If you’re in midtown, you won’t be disappointed staying here.

Im not sure if this is all Marriott money saving , but ever since the new flag, it’s all downhill. I stayed at the hotel every two weeks for work when it was the Conrad. It’s been a few times since the change and it’s so bad that I’m canceling my next stay. The front desk is pathetic. I check in, room isn’t ready, I ask if it will be ready at 3:00? The woman says “ I do not know”. I said. Ok when should I come back, she said sometime between 3:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Great. Phone is broken. Can’t order room service. The windows are so old you can hear everything on the street from the 32nd floor. One robe, not two anymore. The sheets are downgraded. No thank you!

I feel the need to share my experience in light of some negative reviews that almost kept me away. Our room was ready early. The front desk staff member was very courteous. We were offered complimentary late check out (didn't need it). Our room was very spacious, a suite really, with a beautiful well lit big bathroom and very comfortable bed. There were no added fees except the$40. destination fee that I expected.

AVOID AVOID AVOID I paid for early check in - arrived at 12.30, told room would be ready “shortly” and was on rush. Went for lunch returned at 2.30 pm, room still not ready. Receptionist was kind of unable to process what was happening, spent 15 mins on the phone, without telling me what was happening. Terrible service, hopeless staff and as I write this I’m still not sure what kind of room I have or when it will be ready. How is Marriott still in business with this kind of shocking careless behaviour
