Beware the hotel steals money from your credit card while you are asleep. We prepaid the booking before arriving and had a numerous transactions go off our credit card at 2am two days in a row. They apologized and said that they made a mistake but did not return the money to our credit cards. Amounts ranging from 300, 1070.88, 565.07, 755.99 USD. The Luxury Collection Hotel New York ruined our Christmas holidays!!!!!

We stayed here for a 4 night visit during the Christmas season. I was hesitant given some of the very negative reviews, but I believed that Marriott would have their act together. Our stay was very nice, the room was roomy and well done, the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful and the location of this hotel was perfect for what we wanted to do - short walks to Central Park, the shopping on 5th Avenue and Rockefeller Center. The only negative was the carpet in the bedroom was pretty worn and stained, but aside from that the room was clean and spacious.

No where near 5 star, tired low key place, layed back approach to almost everything, had to ask each day for room refresh which either happened or didn’t, minibar filled back up once in the whole week despite constantly asking, bed awful and room tired, everything was just hard work, oh and they lost my booking them charged me again for it, still waiting for refund even though they now admit I had paid for it in full.

The front desk was very helpful and kind during check-in/check-out. If only the rest of the staff were just as nice. We had one staff member who wouldn’t let us use the elevator until we “swiped” our room card which we never had to do until then.

I'm currently staying in a King Suite at the Luxury Collection in Manhattan and wanted to write a review after seeing many negative ones. I'm not sure where that is coming from because I'm loving my stay here. The room is spacious and very comfortable and luxurious, and the lighting, which is incredibly important to me is so warm and cozy with lots of options to make it fit the time of day or what I'm doing. The shower, also important, is nice and spacious - twice the size of showers at some of the nicest hotels in the city. When you know, you know. There is even a nice little bar if you need to balance to shave. I've stayed in many New York five stars where the shower was half the size. I also love the small, thoughtful things, like a much nicer hair dryer than even the top of the line hotels offer, a Nespresso, and all the little amenities. There is even a Cocoa Bar with fun stuff in the lobby and the Christmas tree is one of the prettiest I've seen. I also had a lovely card and fruit plate at turndown which made me feel appreciated. The service has been wonderful. The only suggestions I would make is a little more information at check in around the wine tasting in the evening which I found out on my own, and the Nespresso which thankfully I also discovered. All in all this is a wonderful option for a more accessible five star experience in the heart of the action. I will definitely return!
