Reviews for The Langham, New York, Fifth Avenue

Average at best, wildly overpriced at worst

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Business events keep bringing me back to the Langham yet the Langham group of hotels isn’t for business travels or seemingly anyone that wants a comfortable sleep. The gym is nice. The hotel is clean. Yet, there’s so many lights in the room at night from a bright phone, to an alarm clock, to the thermostat and the rooms aren’t that quiet. Breakfast or room service cannot be had until after 7:30am - seemingly at all Langham hotels. It’s also a dark hotel - dark hallways, dark rooms. The best asset is the restaurant located in the hotel. All this for a sky high price doesn’t equate. Comparing this to high end hotel stays recently at the Conrad and the Ritz in Orlando, the Langham had a tie with the Ritz for the best restaurant and the gyms were good at all, but that’s where the comparisons are end - and the latter two even with resort fees during busy season were cheaper in price.

Excellent hotel

A very quick in and out trip arriving around 2am and leaving the next day. No other guests in lobby upon arrival, still check-in went quickly, which may not be always true at that hour. Room was amazingly quiet facing the backside. Very comfortable bed, lots of closet space and big bathroom with two sinks, perfect for a couple. Nicely decorated. The welcome fruit and cookies were a nice touch. Had access to the executive lounge which was well worth it for breakfast alone. Plenty of room and a good selection, including hot dishes. Very nice gym. Super small lobby which had me doubting at first, but the place really shouldn’t be judged by first sight. This is New York anyway. They build up, not wide.

Great Family Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Our family had a great long weekend Stay at The Langham. We splurged on a room that offered club access and don't regret the decision. It is expensive but it was so convenient and a nice and needed retreat after exploring the city...filled the gap when in between food options.

Quiet Excellence

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We booked here because of our excellent stay at the Langham in London. It’s the equal. Yes, it’s expensive but well worth it. Our room was beautiful, large and all that, but what really sets the hotel apart is the excellence and friendliness of the staff. I didn’t expect such amiability in NYC. Like in Cheers, everyone knows your name. The lounge, free with the suites, is wonderful. It’s open 18 hours a day and offers good food and drink. You’ll find glitzier places, but few as elegant and friendly as the Langham.

Great Front Desk

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Stayed over night for a meeting. The front desk was exceptional, remembering my name throughout the stay. Very pleasant. Turn down service (with water bottle), was great! The location is within walking distance to the best spots in mid-town. Would book this hotel again. The street noise overnight was a bit loud (motorcycle and truck horn at very odd hours) would recommend bringing ear plugs -- but that is to be expected in NYC.
