My expectations were pretty low given the reviews here so perhaps that prepared me for a better stay than I otherwise would have had. The staff were really gracious and particularly helpful with making sure I knew where I was going for my various appointments and meetings. The room was comfortable and had all of the amenities that I needed. The bathroom felt pretty luxurious given the space limitations of New York hotel rooms. It was quiet and my sleep quality was good. The steamer in the wardrobe was so effective and easy to use I ordered one for myself for travel as soon as I got home. All that said, I am quite shocked that this is somehow a five star hotel, particularly given it doesn't have its own property restaurant. The restaurant next door does serve breakfast and hotel guests get a small discount. Overall, I thought it was pretty decent, location to wonderful restaurants nearby was handy.

DO NOT BOOK OR STAY HERE They treated us in the worst way possible. Never in 12 years of traveling to NYC and staying in the best in the city, have we been treated in such a degrading way as this hotel did. Supposedly this hotel is five stars but it treats guests at zero stars. We received the worst treatment especially from this person named: STEPHEN TUREK ASSISTANT DIRECTOR GUEST SERVICES We had made a reservation. Which was done well in advance to precisely avoid inconveniences. And yet when we arrived at this hotel this Mr. denied us the room because it was oversold, without caring about leaving us literally without a hotel to stay in. Saying that: “There were no more rooms” When in our presence, there at the reception; He gave three rooms to different guests who arrived to stay moments after us. Also this pseudo assistant director -He discriminated against us -Has a terrible customer service attitude -He spoke to us in a derogatory and extremely rude manner. -He didn't solve anything, nor was he interested in solving the problem. -He didn't mind leaving us literally on the street despite already having a prior reservation. -There were rooms available, but he simply did not want to give us another room or respect our reservation. This hotel doesn't care if you already have a prior reservation. If they can sell the most expensive room, they will do it without caring at all and without caring that you are left on the street.

This was a perfect hotel for our first trip to New York. The staff was very kind and helpful, and I think this location is just about perfect. Even our Uber driver, when he was dropping us off at our hotel, said "Wow, your hotel is in the perfect spot." Our room wasn't huge, but from what I've seen when looking up hotels in NYC, it was larger than most. Plenty of room for two. Very comfortable bed and the bathroom was large and much nicer than most hotels.

A lovely hotel in a great location. Lots of restaurants within walking distance, close to central park, and the beds are so nice and comfortable. The lobby smells lovely as you walk in. They change the scent every so often but it is a nice change from the smells of the city.
