My wife and I just completed another wonderful stay at the Sofitel NY. We have stayed there about 10 times over the years. It is the perfect hotel for a stay in NYC especially if you plan to see any Broadway shows. Close to Times Square, but not too close. The hotel is lovely, and the accommodations are great, but it is the staff that really makes our stays memorable, especially in the Gaby restaurant and bar which we frequently visit during our stays. We had not been back since Covid, and we were thrilled to see most of the Gaby staff still there. That says a lot about how Sofitel treats their staff and how the staff feels about the hotel. The staff remembered us as we remembered them, and they treated us like long lost friends. They made this another memorable stay as they have done many times before. We are looking forward to our next stay at the Sofitel New York.

My family had a very enjoyable stay at Sofitel between Christmas and New Year’s . The location is fantastic, so close to Times Square and easy walking distance to shows, shopping, Grand Central and so much else. The rooms were clean and quiet, and the beds very comfortable. We did not mind not having a coffee maker in the room- we preferred to go out. We had several delicious meals at Gaby’s and spent time at the bar with the excellent bartending staff. David was warm and engaging, happy to introduce us to some new cocktails ( thank you!) Gilbert at the reception desk was very helpful and knowledgeable. We missed the concierge ( we came down too late), but one of the gentleman across the foyer was extremely helpful and able to book us a car to the airport for the next morning. We had a lovely and relaxing stay at Sofitel, a nice break from the Christmas chaos in the nearby streets!

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. Although the view from the top floor room was not the one we expected, which is subjective to what is iconic for someone , everything else was great. Bijou was very helpful and accommodating to our needs and made us feel like home. The room service was great and all staff was very friendly and with a big smile. The location is amazing and I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

I spent a long weekend (5 nights) at the Sofitel in New York City. I originally spent four nights here and had to extend my stay by a day because of a major snowstorm that was hitting where I live. Kudos to the staff for letting me stay in my room despite me buying the smallest room for that one night addition. I stayed in a one bedroom suite. The room is very large for NYC standards, and even for similar junior suites. The TV in the living room is appropriately sized, but the TV in the bedroom is either too small, or far away. More or less, it’s both. The bathroom has a separate shower and bathtub. Finally, the walk-in closet between the bedroom, bathroom and foyer was very spacious. It has more than enough space for a family of four to sleep there if needed. The bed was very comfortable and the minibar fridge had enough empty space for me to add my own drinks as well. The biggest asset about the Sofitel in NY is that it is in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, just a block from Times Square. However, it is also conveniently located on 44th St between 5th and 6th avenues where you won’t be overwhelmed by the lights of Times Square and possibly the noise. This location allows you to be able to walk to all of the major attractions in Midtown and you are also a hop and a skip away from the subway stations that will take you anywhere within Manhattan and most of the other boroughs (you can’t go to Staten Island on the subway from Manhattan). The drawbacks of the Sofitel are two things: first, it is looking dated. There is a major refresh happening this year, so it will be interesting to see how much stays will cost when this is finished. Finally, for Americans, Sofitel is part of Accor, the biggest hotel conglomerate in Europe, Asia, and Latin America. There aren’t many Accor hotels in the USA besides other Sofitels and Fairmonts in very big cities. I have Accor Live Limitless status and the ALL PLUS Voyageur Card and do go abroad annually, so this is not a problem for me. After all, I will make a lot of progress toward improving my status. But I wanted to put that out there, esp. If you are American and aren’t familiar with Accor. Overall, I recommend that you visit the Sofitel in NYC. It is an upscale hotel that is often reasonably priced, especially if you have Accor Live Limitless because you can get up to triple reward points for your visits if you take advantage of the right promotions.

I’ve stayed at Sofitel New York City three times, and each visit has been exceptional. The beds are incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful stay. The rooms are well-appointed, and the staff is consistently friendly and accommodating, going out of their way to make you feel welcome. The on-site restaurant and bar is excellent, offering great dining options. The hotel’s location is unbeatable—just a short walk to Times Square and Fifth Avenue for shopping, making it the perfect base for exploring the whole city. I brought my family here to enjoy New York City for Christmas and Christina was so helpful in booking it a few months in advance. She suggested the perfect room which included a king suite and connecting queen room. The set up was perfect for us and we were welcomed with cookies and fruit and a lovely little Christmas tree. There were Nespresso machines in the rooms and the mini-bars were well stocked. The turndown attendant very thoughtful of making sure our rooms were tidied up a bit and of course, brought chocolate every night. And, she even left the Bose stereo on Christmas music. That was such a nice touch when returning to the room after an exhausting day. The concierge, Mark, and the porters made the stay even more convenient by making recommendations as well as arranging a ride or hailing a cab for us. I highly recommend! Can’t wait to go back!

Firstly, the quality of the hotel is subpar for what I expect of a Sofitel. It is dated, drab and worn. The pictures online suggest a grand lobby/entrance and a bit of old-style New York glamour - it is none of those things. The rooms are very basic - no luxury elements at all - just two beds and dresser in our room. Our first room had broken items (closet, safe) and we were transferred to a new room which was fine and equally as basic.
We also ate at the GABY onsite restaurant for both breakfast and dinner, which was terrible and the service was mediocre.
Net net, income would rank this a 3 star hotel experience and not at all the caliber of hotel I expected when I booked the Sofitel.
