Reviews for WestHouse New York

Great stay despite some minor issues

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Great hotel. Perfect midtown location. Fantastic services all around from check-in to staff at breakfast and evening Terrace experience. The IT system in general could use some improvement. As Hilton members using points for our stay, the resort is waived. However, the hotel kept sending us various emails showing our room rates in $ and warning us about the resort fee although they call it residence fee. We emailed them to ask for clarification but never got a reply. In the end, all worked out OK. Our stay using Hilton points was completely free. No resort fee. Another odd thing was the TV kept turning itself on during the night. We got woken up by the light from the TV. We turned it off went back to sleep only have this experience repeat again and again. The room itself is modern, well designed, everything works as expected.

The hotel feels like home to us! The staff has always gone above and beyond to make our stay incredible

The hotel is wonderful and the staff is phenomenal! We've stayed at the Westhouse 4 years in a row for our annual trip to NYC. This year, my husband found a deal that was hard to pass up for another hotel in the area. Once we checked in to that hotel, we were disgusted by the room and immediately checked out. Considering it was St Patty's day weekend, hotel availability was scarce. My sister and I went to the Westhouse to explain our situation, and though they were complisetely booked, Nick and the manager were able to find a room for us! Not only did they find an excellent room for us, but they gave it to us at a discounted rate! After checking in, there was a knock on the door, the manager was there holding a bottle of champagne and a box of chocolate for each of us! We felt like we were home!! We will forever stay with them and can't say enough about their service and wonderful hotel!! Besides our recent story, the hotel is super comfortable. The beds, pillows and bedding are all clean and comfy. The rooms are spacious for a NYC hotel and super clean. This hotel really does feel like home to us!!

Sonia is the star of WestHouse Hotel

The hotel was truly so nice and accommodating. We arrived early and they checked our bags while we explored NYC. The best part of the whole experience was Sonia at the complimentary breakfast. She was so helpful and friendly. She really made our experience top of tier! We will surely be back to see her!!

Fabulous

My mom, sister and I had stayed here for three years and decided to try a different hotel this year. Bad mistake. We checked out as soon as we checked in because it was run down and had a bad odor. We were homeless in NYC! We decided to walk down to the WestHouse to see if we could get lucky. We walked into the WestHouse with no reservation and were greeted by Nick like we were family! He remembered us immediately! We told him about our situation and, despite being "full", Nick managed to squeeze us in for 5 nights!!! We were in our room unpacking and there was a knock on the door. It was the manager, Paige, with a bottle of champagne and 3 boxes of chocolates!!! We will never try to stay anywhere else again!!! WestHouse and all of the staff are amazing. Thank you to everyone for making us feel so welcome!!!

The best experience!!!

I don’t normally write reviews for the places we stay as I am a self proclaimed hotel snob and normally find hospitality to be lacking and amenities to be scarce. However, from the second, we walked in to the WestHouse we were greeted with warmth, genuine kindness, and the entire staff did everything to make our stay from the moment we got there the best we’ve ever had. We arrived at the hotel just after 9:30am and they had our room ready. Before we entered the room, we were greeted by the most enthusiastic, delightful, and absolutely contagiously upbeat housekeeper named Juliet. She immediately gave us three bottles of water, not just ordinary bottles of water but aluminum inside pH balance distilled water that you’re able to fill continually upstairs on the 23rd level where breakfast is served and what they call happy hour, which is actually a full dinner. Even though we arrived so early, they offered us their full breakfast, which was absolutely amazing and that evening, we were so surprised and delighted to find that their “happy hour“ was actually a full dinner of delicious freshly made food that changed each evening. By having the food in the morning, which was excellent and very gourmet and the dinner in the evening it took so much stress off of finding places to eat. The staff upstairs on the 23rd floor were exceptional. One lady in particular went above and beyond to make sure we received the best possible service and accommodations and gave us a few extras because she was just so kind. By the end of the vacation, we felt like we had actually become true friends with her and so many of the other employees. They knew us by name and seemed genuinely interested in us and in return we were in them. Also, there’s a lovely terrace off of the eating area that makes a beautiful area for pictures of the New York skyline. By the way, wine and beer are included in the happy hour. I was traveling with my 84-year-old mother and my 19-year-old daughter. It was a three generation vacation that was a once in a lifetime experience for us to be able share with one another. And the WestHouse made this better than we ever had anticipated. For those that are picky about little incidentals, they are in the process of making the hotel a bit more glamorous and so there were a few flaws, but there weren’t any that were truly bothersome because they overcame those by their kindness, hospitality, and they’re genuine concern that we were completely 100% happy. As an extra bonus, we were given new water bottles each day to be able to carry around and then be able to go upstairs to refill them, I’ve stayed at hotels all over the world and I have to say this is one of the best experience I’ve had hands-down. I only wish I had gotten the information of some of the employees so that we could stay in touch as that’s how wonderful of people they are. Another important thing to add is the location. As they say location, location, location is everything. This was absolutely in the ideal location for being able to walk everywhere. We were able to walk to Times Square quite easily, we were able to walk to our show, Moulin Rouge a must see, we were five minutes away from Central Park, about 8 to 10 minutes to Rockefeller Square. We walked through Central Park to get to the Metropolitan Museum of art which was a 30 minute walk and so it was so lovely. I give the hotel 100% on location. I recommend staying here as we will never even consider staying at another hotel in New York again. Thank you to the staff at the WestHouse!!! Nicole, Ann, and Chloe
