About the Hotel

A sleek retreat from the urban metropolis of the world's most recognized city, Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC offers swanky downtown chic with a hint of uptown luxury. The soaring ultramodern façade, lavish amenities, and tony vibe of Manhattan's premier hotel transforms the boisterous Meatpacking District into the most sought after hot spot in the Big Apple. Inspired by the hip, cool feel of the 1960's and 70's, a bold, bright color palate of fuchsia, magenta, plum, and champagne creates a classically mod ambiance throughout the property. Lavish details like a heated rooftop pool with underwater sound-system and resplendent 5,000 square foot spa with exclusive hair studio provides contemporary comforts and a chance to be pampered like never before.

Reviews for Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC

Loved It

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Located in a great spot in the Meat Packing District, this hotel was one of the nicest we have stayed in in NYC. The room was warmly decorated and comfortable and the staff was outstanding. We will be returning and will recommend it to friends and family.

Best Hotel in NYC

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This is the best hotel in NYC! The location is absolutely perfect. Access to the high line, The Whitney and Chelsea Markets could not be easier. Enjoy a stroll around Little Island which is fabulous. Walk to West Village and SOHO with access so many cafes, bars and restaurants . The hotel is well kept and rooms very luxurious. All staff are great and we will be back!!!

Overpriced "Luxury" hotel with great location but subpar service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

There were 3 main issues; 1 major, 2 minor. The main issue was housekeeping threw away one of my custom ear plugs which cost ~175-200 to make as an audiologist takes a scan of your ear and sends it to a lab. I did mention this to the desk reception but they didn't seem very interested and said they would call the room if anyone found them (they never did since they were thrown away). Also the shower was cold on the first morning and didn't get hot, and one of the elevators stopped on the maintenance floor instead of the lobby when L was pressed, getting myself and another random guest stuck there for like 5 minutes as we kept pressing L and it would just continue to open the doors to the maintenance floor. Obviously though, having my custom ear plugs thrown out was the main issue. I chose to stay here because of its proximity to the Google NYC office and it's a recommended partner on our internal pages, but I would likely not stay here again after the experience. I would have sent this via the guest survey that was sent to me, but any time I tried to submit the form returned an error: "Internal Server Error - Read". This experience sums up my recent stay at Gansevoort.

Very overpriced for just a 'decent' hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I was told that the pool (perhaps the biggest draw of the hotel) was closed for refurbishment upon arrival - this was not communicated to me ahead of time. A courtesy free meal or partial refund would have been welcome. The room itself was ok, but certainly not worth the extortionate price. I am genuinely shocked that this is rated a 5 star hotel - it's the worst 5 star hotel I've stayed in. The shower curtain was something out of a 2 or 3 star hotel. I would not recommend staying here above other similarly priced hotels in Manhattan. One positive is that the fitness centre (open 24 hours) is quite good, and has lots of equipment that some other hotels often do not have. The sushi in the rooftop restaurant was nice, but again overpriced - there are better sushi spots in Manhattan.

Steer clear

Just don’t go! The riudest front desk manager Amanda I have ever encountered. The reservations Manager also soooo rude, defensive and so un customer friendly! Rooms ok (when they get the price right that they quoted). Just be very careful as the communication within is non existence as is the customer service. David - (front desk Director marginally better) however still ‘chippy’. Best thing about the hotel was John Ross (doorman) absolutely charming! If I was the GM (who apparently was nowhere to be seen when asked) should be utterly appalled. Zero customer service ANYWHERE. So many better hotels in the city. Beware. It’s also seemingly a very common theme within the reviews. They think they are something very special when really they are a glorified travel lodge in a great location. Management - where are you???? We were offered a complimentary upgrade next stay we stay - sadly there will NEVER be a next time!
