Enjoyable Stay with a View

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The Resort is large with beautiful common areas. All of the staff were welcoming. Our room was nicely done with a large bathroom. Beds were comfortable. We stayed in a top floor, bay view room (well worth it for views). We had a large private balcony that was enjoyable day and night. Room was plenty big for family of three. Restaurant was good, Wed night entertainers were fun. We used the coffee shop several times although the Nespresso machine was good too. Resort is convenient by car to many wonderful places on the coast. No stay is perfect, there seems to be some plumbing problems. The toilet needed fixing, there was a sewage smell in the bathroom and the shower did not always get hot. Maybe it was due to age of building. The only real inconvenience was getting out of self-serve parking. Key didn’t work and valet wasn’t always available. Not fun. Overall, we enjoyed the Balboa Bay Resort along with Newport Beach and would return.

Great hotel. Great location.

We stayed here for a week visiting relatives. We had a fantastic time. The hotel is in a great location on the waterfront. You can sit watching the expensive boats and the wealthy people walk past, and it feels like you could be in Monte Carlo. The Sunday brunch was a particular high point. I didn’t need to eat for the rest of the day. Everyone who served us was great. Room service was a little slow, and although I stipulated I wanted milk with my tea, it did not arrive. We were given rooms at the back of the hotel, which are best avoided if you can. They face the busy road, so are noisy 24/7. However our room was over the valet parking entrance, so we enjoyed sitting on our balcony watching the all the incredibly expensive sports cars arriving and being parked.

Amazing stay and massage

We had a wonderful time during our 4 day stay. Everyone on the staff was friendly and professional. The massage therapist Marie at the Balaboa Club was amazing and very talented. She gave me the best massage and really made sure it was therapeutic. Thanks, Marie!

Excellent once again

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

This is my second time here, and the Balboa continues to be one of my favorite resorts in the country. The guest rooms, the pool, and all the other resort grounds are clean, well maintained, and impeccably designed/decorated. Service is first class (for example, all the staff address you by your surname, without exception). There’s genuine glamour to dining at the A&O restaurant with waterfront views and a fleet of luxury yachts dockside—it feels more like Monaco or the set of a James Bond film. The quality of the food (including room service) is excellent. And at about $600/night there’s huge value here compared to resorts in Malibu or Laguna that cost at least twice the price. Can’t wait to come back.
