Excellent location. Great restaurant. The front desk staff was lovely and we appreciated their willingness to give us bottles of water whenever we asked. The lobby is cozy, and I saw a guest reading a book with her feet propped up on the hearth of the gas fireplace. Our rooms were small but cute; the bathrooms were tiny and the desk in my friend's room was battered. Great housekeeping. I had a massage at the spa, which was very nice, but the women's locker room was sparse, with just a single ordinary shower (no multiple jets or other cool features like many spa showers have). A small vanity area featured a single hair dryer and very few amenities (no hair spray or combs soaking in Barbicide to use to style your hair). Spa services cost $20 extra on weekends, an upcharge I've never heard of before. If you don't book a spa treatment and just want the spa facilities, you can pay a $20 fee, but don't do it—there's nothing except an infrared sauna. The hotel pool is free to use anyway. My real complaint is the ridiculous add-on fees, including $45/night for valet parking and an absolutely outrageous $50/day "resort fee." This is only a hotel, not a resort with exceptional amenities for your enjoyment beyond your room. I've stayed in several other Newport hotels, and would probably go back to one of those rather than the Viking due to the unfair fees.

Wonderful stay! The hotel was so nice and the staff were all so lovely. We had a very sweet and attentive server, Hyechong, at the restaurant who went out of her way to celebrate my friends birthday. The spa was also wonderful, very relaxing and accommodating. I felt very comfortable at Hotel Viking and would very much like to return.

Great hotel! Felt very fancy for a good price. The spa was luxurious. Ate at the restaurant for dinner one of the nights and Hyechong was great. She was attentive, caring, quick and professional. Highly recommend the food. The beds were good along with the pillows. The shower water pressure and heat was also nice.

Tiniest sink bathroom I’ve ever seen in a hotel, and this was in a 1br suite. Like airplane can’t wash your face small. Loud heaters, lovely location and good breakfast and pool but the rest was meh and wish we’d stayed elsewhere

Overall our experience was ok. Hotel front desk and bar could have been more welcoming and friendly! Valet guys were great, as well as the spa! We ate breakfast in the restaurant which was delicious and our server, Maureen, was the best!! She was friendly, kind, and attentive! She made our stay!

We got married at Kay Chapel and had our reception at the Hotel Viking in December. The entire event was everything that I hoped it would be! The Hotel Viking is traditional, outstanding and eloquent. Our reception was in the Bellevue Ballroom and everything was beautiful. The staff was exceptional! They were there for us throughout the evening and paid such close attention to all of the guests! The hotel service was also outstanding. I am delighted to give the Hotel Viking the highest of reviews.
