Disappointed is the first word that comes to mind when describing my impression of the Hotel Viking in Newport RI. Our room is a suite which includes torn carpet and broken radiator covers. I am currently sitting on the couch writing this as both the mattress and pillow are uncomfortable. I was really looking forward to something a bit more elevated but what I ended up with was a tired room in need of a makeover. Upon arrival we were told the elevator was not working which was a drag being we were not on the ground floor. The only positive is the location.

It had been a long minute since enjoying a stay at the Hotel Viking, and very glad to have done so. Staff was very helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived. Nice to have that welcome after being on the road for a while to get there. Loved looking at all of the pictures and art on the walls, and having coffee in room, in the lobby, in the hotel cafe and another time across the street. Our room was comfortable, and the location is good for driving to area activities and eateries, as well as walking. We walked to the Gas Lamp Grille, and drove to The Mooring and Scales, The Ardvaark, The Elms and Marble House. The snow was pretty and the rain, slush and wind that followed just made it all the more cozy at Hotel Viking. We were there in February at the start of the Winter Festival, which lasts a week, and would go again! :)

Well maintained and clean. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Our room was very nice and comfortable. One highlight was the windows actually opened! Very walkable to a lot of the city.

We had a great lunch during burger week in February. Their burger the wild game burger was outstanding. And Hyechong our server was so friendly and fun and made dinner even more enjoyable within her jokes. We had a great time! Highly recommend.

We got married at Kay Chapel and had our reception at the Hotel Viking in December. The entire event was everything that I hoped it would be! The Hotel Viking is traditional, outstanding and eloquent. Our reception was in the Bellevue Ballroom and everything was beautiful. The staff was exceptional! They were there for us throughout the evening and paid such close attention to all of the guests! The hotel service was also outstanding. I am delighted to give the Hotel Viking the highest of reviews.
