Favourite Christmas Season Getaway

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

This is the third time I’ve stayed at the Pillar and Post and it’s one of my favourite places, especially during the Christmas season. The lovely Christmas decorations and music and Christmas smells can’t help but put you in a festive mood, and the Gardens all lit up with lights was so beautiful. The spa was incredible as always and the spa lounge is so relaxing. The rooms were very clean and the food at the Cannery was superb as always. I definitely recommend staying here!

Nice but busy

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Excellent stay and decorated beautifully for the Christmas season. Our room was cute (we missed the chocolates that used to come with turndown service). The bedding is always one of the nicest. We went to the spa. Very very busy. A bit overcrowded but the outdoor springs is one of our favourites. We didn’t eat but had a cocktail in the lounge which was excellent service.

Amazing!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Right from check in until we left all the hotel staff made us feel welcome. The holiday decoration inside and out were gorgeous and really put us in the holiday spirit. Our favourite thing was floating in the heated outdoor pool… with the fireplace and holiday decorations it was a magical experience. We got the winter scrub pedicure at the spa and a shout out to Heather and Gretchen who were just great. The bedding, towels and fluffy white robes were next level amazing. This will be an annual event for sure to recharge before the holiday season. Thank you to everyone at the Pillar and Post.

I agree with both the good and the bad reviews

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Like most people, we have nothing but praise for the Pillar and Post staff. They were nothing short of fantastic at the front desk, spa and restaurants. Not so much for our room. Room 104 was on the main floor. It, like many of the hotel's common areas, were in bad need of a lick of paint. In our room, we had a fireplace and a queen bed. The bathroom had a tub and shower. There was a Nespresso machine, a wide-screen television and a mini fridge. The adjustable chair was threadbare as was the carpet. The coffee table looked like someone had been skating on it. I felt the room was too cold even when the fireplace and heater were on. There was no heat at all in the bathroom. The windows in the bedroom radiated cold air. On the bright side, there was a pleasant view from the bedroom window of the heated all-weather outdoor pool and the quadrangle. It was just before Christmas so the lobby and much of the spa and restaurants were decked out with (mostly) tasteful ornamentation. I recognise this could be a separate review, but the Cannery restaurant deserves all its' stars. ACCESSIBILITY: The front door ramp is from the side of the building. I understand some rooms with outside access may not be accessible to those with physical disabilities. There are elevators to give access to most of the building. Check with reservations before you book. I'm not always correct.
