Reviews for Six Senses Ninh Van Bay

It would deserve a 5* review, but sleep quality and service don‘t justify the price.

This is a tricky one. The hotel itself is wonderfully located in its own bay and has a lot of Maldives vibes. The whole welcome is very lovely, the villas are really wonderful. You have your own private secluded garden with a open air terrace, outdoor shower, a lovely balinese style bathroom and direct beach access (we had a beach front villa). I also cannot second some negative reviews about the dinner, the food quality was totally outstanding. We booked a half board package, which I would highly recommend to do - you‘ll get four dishes per person in the evening, which is usually way more than you can eat. Our villa host and the general manager „DD“ were also really helpful, accomodating and tried to solve any questions and problems immediately. The three main complains that we have: 1. The beds are too small and the bedroom AC is quite loud. This is the main bummer. Our sleep quality was not really great, and thats a big turn-off. The villas are super spacious, why do you put in a small bed there and not a king size bed? That would be my #1 complaint and the reason not to go back. (It‘s especially a joke because on the SPA intake form they ask you about your sleep quality) 2. They really need to work on is the service quality and their attentiveness. You sometimes sit around and wait forever at the (empty) main jetty bar until someone finally brings you a menu (or you have to walk up to them). Some staff in the restaurant is also very disinterested and not very friendly in particular. This is all not a deal-breaker but has to seen in comparison for the price of the hotel (and the drinks, private speedboat transport, etc.) - sometimes you definitely would expect more. 3. Get better bikes (or at least new saddles). These are the most uncomfortable bikes I‘ve ever ridden, your butt hurts after a few rides. Why would you bring in sport bikes with a hard saddle and a low handlebars. And you definitely need a bike to get around unless you want to call the buggy all the time. So, as much as I would love to give it a 5* review and as much as it deserves it through the lovely and quiet location, I can‘t when you look at the price point and price/value ratio - which is like a Maldives resort, where all these are non-issues. But they can fix those issues if they really want to, I really hope they do. The resort would be worth it.

Excellent

The entire stay, from the very beginning to the very end, was exceptionally good. As the only way to reach the island is by boat, the resort is very exclusive and secluded. There was not much crowd due to low season. The weather when we visited was excellent and temperature was around 25-28 degrees. There were occasional rain but it's perfectly fine for us. We stayed in the for two nights at the Hilltop Villa and another two nights at the Beach Front Villa. We requested for a low and middle tier Villa before booking due to two young preschoolers. It took us 88 steps to our hilltop villa and we (especially the kids) enjoyed our morning workout every day. The breakfast area is just located at the base, which makes it extremely convenient for us. Not forgetting the stunning sunset. Beach Front Villa has a larger pool as compared to the Hilltop Villa and everything is spectacular as well. Thanks to the amazing kids club, we can go for our massages, slow lunch or even a drink by the Bay. Everyone in the kids club is so meticulous and caring. Both my kids enjoyed the club and would request to go there every day. My son also enjoyed many of the kids activities provided by Six Senses. Not forgetting the delicious food at all the restaurants at Six Senses. We did not have any bad meal. The most unforgettable one would be the hotpot at the Farmhouse. We would like to thank Quyen, Ninh and Linh from Kids Club, Mr Khang our manager and all the staff for the amazing 4 nights stay. Our stay is truly enjoyable and we are already making plans to come back.

A beautiful stay at a lovely resort. Service and staff were fantastic especially our gem Son. The spa was one of the best treatments I have had and the gym is well equipped for all types of fitness levels. Our villa was private and kept immaculate by the house keeping team. Great choice at breakfast and dinner.

Great time, some improvements needed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

We had a great time and it is a beautiful property. We had good weather. Our family is vegetarian and the staff went out of their way to make sure there were off menu options for us at all meals and made sure we had sufficient variation in food. There are some nice touches - the free ice cream bar, the massage before breakfast etc. We had a beachfront villa so had direct access to the beach and our own small pool. The property overall is in need of an upgrade. The villa we had and the public areas are mostly dated. The villa is basic - not luxurious. On the same trip we stayed at Zannier and the Regent in Phu Quoc and the villas there were of a much higher standard. As others have pointed out the food is expensive but that is not uncommon in remote resorts. The breakfast buffet is extensive but the quality mediocre. Again, the other properties we stayed at were far better in this regard. With more competition coming into the Vietnamese market at the luxury end they will have to lift the standard but don't get me wrong, the property itself is beautiful. The one negative and strange experience that we had was that on our first evening when my daughter showered before dinner the shampoo bottle slipped out of her hand and broke. Her hands were slippery due to her having soap on them from applying the shampoo. It was lucky she wasn't injured in any way. That evening when we finished dinner there was a staff member waiting for us as we exited the restaurant to speak to us about the broken bottle. He even had photos of it on his phone that he showed us immediately. We were made to feel as if some crime had been committed. He advised us that they would be charging us for the bottle and he would come back to be with the amount. Later that evening he texted be that they would be adding $9.87 to our bill. When someone is paying thousands of dollars a night at a luxury property you would think it isn't worth the negative sentiment for them to hound you down in the way we were for $10. Lastly we were texted excessively at the end of our stay regarding being picked up and taken to the "payment place" to settle our account. This may have been a language issue but again the obsession with payment seemed a bit much.

Phenomenal villa and view!

We so enjoyed Water Pool Villa number four that we were not even bothered by the less than perfect weather. We had bits of rain here and there and mostly cloudy skies with a rare periods of sun. From the moment our boat pulled up to the dock, Greg and our GEM Liá»…u made us feel welcomed and special. The location of our Villa was such that we had to walk in from the main Bay dining room. I wouldn't recommend it for someone with any mobility issues or health issues that make it difficult to go up and down stairs, nor would I recommend it for families with small children. Our villa was spectacular. We had a small private pool a separate building with a living room, panels opened on three sides offering a beautiful Bay view. We enjoyed our time playing cards at a table for two near the window. There is also a futon of sorts for comfy lounging, the coffee, mini fridge, and amenities are located there. The main dwelling has the bedroom, another sitting area, ample desk and large bathroom with two separate sinks and vanities. Both of these rooms have sliding panels that open to the view as well. We absolutely loved hanging out in our villa. The property has four dining areas. Dining by theBay; we had some of the best Vietnamese food on our two week trip there, this is also where they have a large breakfast buffet with made to order eggs. Our second night we did private dining in the Wine Cave. We really enjoyed the intimacy of the space as you are really in a private area with only necessary interruptions of food and drink. Our third night we went to dining on the rocks for a prefix meal. The food in all three locations was well prepared and artfully presented. We also dined at the pool, which has a nice assortment of Italian dishes. My husband ordered the carbonara I had a pizza both of which we very much enjoyed. Each room is assigned their own bicycles to move about the property or, the staff is quick to come pick you up in a buggy should you request it. The spa is fabulous, we got massages two out of the three days we were there. My masseuse did a type of cupping on my back which felt amazing. I enjoyed yoga in the gym, which turned into a private class as no one else came up that day. We also took a boat to monkey Island, it's interesting and fun to be amongst so many small monkeys however it was a bit touristy. I was fortunate to see some of the local endangered species of Langur monkeys while traveling from Yoga to the dining room.
