A wonderful holiday at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Just returned from a wonderful week at Six Senses Ninh van bay Vietnam. A really brilliant hotel. We absolutely loved it. The Location is stunning, breathtakingly beautiful. The hotel have managed to fuse their ‘barefoot luxury’ vibe with the surroundings so well. We had the hilltop reserve villa - an enormous 3 bed villa with an amazing view - it had a living room, dining area, kitchen, huge terrace and chill out areas, gorgeous pool - more than enough space for our family of 5. We were given bikes to get around the resort which was a nice touch. We lucked out with (guest experience maker) GEM Khang, the staff member who was assigned to look after our villa. He was absolutely brilliant, organised everything we needed. Gave us every piece of info before we’d even thought of it. Was calm, efficient and friendly - a superstar GEM for sure. He made our week so incredibly easy and therefore it was really relaxing. Otherwise what can I tell you about the resort: Spa is fabulous, food is amazing, beach and sea are wonderful and in general service on every level was top notch. There is loads to do, but equally it’s fine to do absolutely nothing at all. Thank you for having us!

Biocuántica - Carlos

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Six senses never fails to satisfy all of your holiday needs. Was lucky enough to catch one of their visiting practitioners just before he left (Carlos) to do a session of Biocuántica. Was a new concept to me but amazingly Carlos managed to use his quantum physics to identify a key moment in my life. Without me mentioning any hints. Felt like a very authentic and refreshing session with no agenda to up sell. Highly recommend!

Barefoot luxury resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

There is so much to like about this resort. It’s a 20+ year old resort but you’d never really know that in the villa or other public areas. The link in with the natural environment is really strong and the grounds are maintained really well. Seeing the critically endangered Black-Shanked Douc Langurs was a special treat. I really enjoyed the food throughout the resort and the service in the restaurants was really good too, attentive and enthusiastic, but perhaps lacked a little polish that you get in the best resorts. The spa was phenomenal; I intended to go once, but it was so good I went 4 times (the sound therapy was a unique experience I would recommend). Coordinating everything for me was my GEM Thųong who responded within moments to any request that I had. The level of service provided was exceptional. Unfortunately during my stay there was one area that was definitely below acceptable standards. That was the service around the main pool and the beach. I would finish breakfast and go to the beach to do some loafing. The loungers and beach umbrellas weren’t set up so I would have to that myself, towels weren’t readily available and on one occasion left over food from the previous day was still there. The whole area seemed understaffed, as the man working seemed to be trying really hard. I put this down to an oversight of management. I was debating awarding a 4* review because of this, but I think that would be churlish as it would be such an easy fix and the rest of the resort was so very, very good. This is a great resort and a unique experience.

Beautiful Property, Disappointing Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Six Senses Ninh Van Bay – Beautiful Property, Disappointing Experience I had high expectations for Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, having traveled across the world to visit this renowned resort. While the natural beauty and warm hospitality are undeniable, my experience ultimately fell short due to several major issues that made the stay frustrating rather than relaxing. Positives: • Breathtaking Property & Villas – The resort is undeniably stunning, with villas that blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings, offering an unparalleled sense of privacy and tranquility. • Exceptional Staff – Every team member we encountered was friendly, warm, and genuinely eager to assist. Their service was a highlight of our stay. • Varied Activity Options – When the weather cooperates, there seems to be plenty to do, from hiking to water sports, though many activities are highly weather-dependent. Negatives: • Zero Flexibility on Reservation Changes Due to Weather – I understand that weather isn’t within the hotel’s control, but given that the forecast called for rain all three days of my stay, I was disappointed that the hotel refused to adjust my reservation dates. The resort felt far from full (I’d estimate 20% occupancy), making the lack of flexibility feel especially frustrating. • Recurring Air Conditioning Issues – The air conditioning in our villa broke both nights, making it nearly impossible to sleep due to the heat. While maintenance responded quickly after the first night, the issue persisted, significantly impacting our comfort. • Severely Limited Activities in Bad Weather – With constant rain, hikes were canceled, boat excursions were not worth the price, and dining options were either canceled or moved to less desirable locations. There was little to do besides sit in the villa and hope for better weather. • Unsafe, Poorly Maintained Bicycles – The bicycle provided with our room had faulty brakes, which led to my wife having a minor accident. Given how spread out the resort is, a functioning bicycle is essential unless you’re in peak physical condition. Overall Verdict: While the location and service were impressive, the lack of flexibility, maintenance issues, and limited options in poor weather made this an underwhelming experience—especially given the resort’s premium pricing. If you’re spending this kind of money, I’d recommend considering alternatives like the Four Seasons or Aman, where service and reliability are more consistent. Rating: 2/5

It would deserve a 5* review, but sleep quality and service don‘t justify the price.

This is a tricky one. The hotel itself is wonderfully located in its own bay and has a lot of Maldives vibes. The whole welcome is very lovely, the villas are really wonderful. You have your own private secluded garden with a open air terrace, outdoor shower, a lovely balinese style bathroom and direct beach access (we had a beach front villa). I also cannot second some negative reviews about the dinner, the food quality was totally outstanding. We booked a half board package, which I would highly recommend to do - you‘ll get four dishes per person in the evening, which is usually way more than you can eat. Our villa host and the general manager „DD“ were also really helpful, accomodating and tried to solve any questions and problems immediately. The three main complains that we have: 1. The beds are too small and the bedroom AC is quite loud. This is the main bummer. Our sleep quality was not really great, and thats a big turn-off. The villas are super spacious, why do you put in a small bed there and not a king size bed? That would be my #1 complaint and the reason not to go back. (It‘s especially a joke because on the SPA intake form they ask you about your sleep quality) 2. They really need to work on is the service quality and their attentiveness. You sometimes sit around and wait forever at the (empty) main jetty bar until someone finally brings you a menu (or you have to walk up to them). Some staff in the restaurant is also very disinterested and not very friendly in particular. This is all not a deal-breaker but has to seen in comparison for the price of the hotel (and the drinks, private speedboat transport, etc.) - sometimes you definitely would expect more. 3. Get better bikes (or at least new saddles). These are the most uncomfortable bikes I‘ve ever ridden, your butt hurts after a few rides. Why would you bring in sport bikes with a hard saddle and a low handlebars. And you definitely need a bike to get around unless you want to call the buggy all the time. So, as much as I would love to give it a 5* review and as much as it deserves it through the lovely and quiet location, I can‘t when you look at the price point and price/value ratio - which is like a Maldives resort, where all these are non-issues. But they can fix those issues if they really want to, I really hope they do. The resort would be worth it.

We stayed in your hotel in early June and we enjoyed every second. My wife loved the hotel, the staff, the ambiance, everything and we hope to be back soon to this dream. Thanks again for making a dream come true!
