Beautiful hotel in stunning setting. Rooms were spacious and beautiful. Canyon views were incredible! Restaurants were v nice but it is v expensive (but you are paying for the location). It was annoying prices in menus all excluded taxes etc which equated to approx 25%! I do not know why hotels can’t just put full prices on a menu, other hotels in Oman did so meaning pricing is clear and transparent. The pool was beautiful and relaxing but there is a shortage of sun loungers and we noticed people returning from hotel after day trips could not get sun loungers. We did the 3 villages walk which was fantastic and we had a lovely and informative guide (Hamid). We looked to do nizwa trip but it was v expensive so instead booked an external guide at half the cost. The anantara is in a great setting to explore the mountain & nizwa and other villages like Al Hamra are 1-1.5 hrs drive. Staff were all v helpful and courteous and overall this is a beautiful hotel which I would highly recommend

After a nail biting journey up the mountain, we reached the beautiful Anantara. The Hotel is a perfect example of how architecture can complement the beauty of its surroundings instead of over powering it. The buildings sit respectfully on the mountain and from afar they seem to melt into the mountain. The gardens are beautiful and the smell of roses and other beautiful blooms fill the air. Anantara over looks the beautiful valley below where you can admire the abundant pomegranate trees and damask roses. April is a good time to visit because then the roses are in full bloom and they did not disappoint. Customer Service is top priority and everyone at the Hotel endeavours to make your stay memorable. The rooms are beautiful and views spectacular. The decor and attention to detail respects Omani culture and traditions. Throughout the hotel you will find tributes and photos of historic value. Our room cleaner Minaz was such a sweet young man and left everything spotless. I also love the fruit basket in the room and farewell dried fruit with a hand written message. It’s these little details that add to the whole experience. One afternoon the management team was also waiting in the entrance hall and meeting and greeting guests, asking about our stay and if we had complaints or compliments. Al Burayk in guest services was such a kind gentleman and it was a pleasure speaking to him every day. The breakfast setting is once again stunning, over looking the garden. Variety and quality of ingredients are all great. Cappuccinos are also the best I had from all the hotels we stayed in during our visit to Oman. Do the try the Omani porridge, it tastes like desert for breakfast. I also loved the homemade granola and butter. The hotel is walking distance from 3 villages. There is a nice 12 km hike through the villages if you are up for it. If you walk to the first Village, you will find a museum. I suggest visiting the museum and learning about their traditions and history of rose water uses etc. You can book a guided tour through 3 villages for a minimal fee at the museum otherwise just visit the museum and hike on your own. I highly recommend staying at this hotel if you do stay on the mountain as you won’t regret it

We stayed for 3 nights as part of a wider stay in Oman and this was undoubtedly our favourite hotel. As a family (with a 12 and 13 year old) we would highly recommend the climbing experience... absolutely fantastic.

I had a pleasant stay at Anantara Jabal Al Akhdar Resort. For convenience, I arranged transfers to and from Muscat directly with the resort, which were smooth and hassle-free. I did have to confirm the transfers prior to the trip as I had not received a confirmation of the transfer booking despite emailing in advance, however this was quickly sorted after calling the resort. The room was clean, spacious, and the canyon view from the balcony truly elevated the experience. I booked the half board rate which included buffet breakfast and buffet dinner. The rate doesn't include drinks except water or any a la carte restaurants on the property which is slightly disappointing considering the price per night to stay at the resort. Guests are given 24OMR credit to dine at one a la carte restaurant - spending anything above that before taxes and fees would incur extra charges. Nevertheless, both the breakfast and the dinner buffets were of decent quality, offering a good variety. There was also an Iranian restaurant a few minutes walk away from the resort which was great. Another downside was that some excursions required a minimum of two participants—so solo travellers would have to pay the full price of 2 participants if wanting to go on the excursion, which can be quite expensive. That said, Oman has many private guides available, offering alternative options for exploring. The staff were consistently courteous and helpful throughout my stay. A special mention to the restaurant staff, who were incredibly kind. The front desk staff were extremely accommodating and kindly allowed me a late checkout at 6 p.m., which was very helpful given that my flight from Muscat wasn’t until 11:30 p.m. Overall, a memorable and comfortable stay.
